It's the plane I'm most like...
Slow...
Tubby...
Square looking...
Not agile at all...
But tough enough to recieve it and dish it back out in spades...
Grumman Ironworks Baby!!!
Thanks OLeg & crew!!!!
Regards,
Mark

Not agile? It'll turn rings around just about any plane save some Japanese fighters and some bi-planes. One of the tightest turners in the game - as it should be.

I like it a lot too, I had my best sortie in the hellcat online today on Warclouds. I got Tony, two Franks, and a Hamp. While limping home a Frank bounced me and I had to belly in, but I was pretty happy anyway as my guy lived.

A Wildcat is just a TARGET to a Zero pilot.

Nothing more, nothing less.

depends on the model year...all things being equal, I'll fly the iron.

A6M2 pilot better be a **** good shot. I've had my Cat take all the ammo they've had, and still trap with no aileron controls and a slightly wounded pilot. Grumman Ironworks baby http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

And if there are similar numbers with the Cats working in concert and at speed....forget about it. There will be 'zero' pilots left for the IJN in the air. heh heh http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

You get in tight with those 20mm cannon, and iron or not, that Wildcat's going down.

Maybe, but all I have to do in the Iron Pig is put ONE APIT through your flying tinderbox, and you might as well bail out before your chute burns up too.

Plus, I've seen F4Fs take 20mm hits and keep trucking. It's not the sure thing you make it out to be, Stigly.

I just love the fact that it makes me earn my victories. Hard to beat the feeling of Knowing you were outmatched im almost every facet accept determination and skill.

They should have named it the Poohbear bird, Its short fat and proud of that.

The wildcat and brewster buffalo in il2/pf is the most ugliest planes, but they are very cool to fly, and they seam to hold out good online when i fly them.just love it when you shoot down a zero in a wildcat, and the zero guy screams lag/cheat/that bird cant turn like that.
HAHA dont turn in 450km/hp in a zero stopid.

I must say I've come to really like the Wildcat thanks to PF. Always considered it to be an antiquated bucket before, but it really doesn't suck and is cool looking too (and can turn like a demon with some speed).

It's too bad the skins don't load much faster. You could put an F4F-3 skin on a Wilder Wildcat and surprise the feck out of everyone. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

Anyone know what the vertical line is that keeps appearing in the -3's gunsight with all non-zoom FOVs? It's rather irritating.

Now if only we could get the flaps accurately modeled on it and get the Wildcatfish varient too. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Wildcat vs Zero smackdown. Get yourself a beer and a ringside seat.

Just about the only problem with the "flying beer keg" is the manual landing gear. Sorta tough to do when you're coming in for a carrier landing with a failing engine.

that is just another facet of its overall appeal
