This movie was nominated for best editing at the Machinima film awards a couple of months ago. It's made by Monty Dan.

Check out the movie Forum for the link to the Pictures of War 2 trailer!

Very well done, and the editing and sound were superb. But I was a little confused by the set-up. The "Undercover Land Mine Distribution Center"(or whatever) sign led me to believe this was some post-war fictional covert government operation...but then why the Japanese planes at the end?? Why not planes without Japanese markings, or with some fictional land mine cartel? Just curious.

I chose to overlook the "Land Mine" quote, being as if it had been captioned as a mining operation, people would think they were after gold or silver, instead of ships, which is what I thought they were doing. The other thing I chose to overlook was all the radio chatter. There was just too much, but without it, the film would have lacked a certain ambience, and may have lost a lot of "non" aviation viewers.

You'll have to look into updating your codecs, most likely DivX?

How? This is my first experience with winamp. Where do I get these files and how do I install them. Up to this point I have just used Media player. I have winnamp istalled, and it opens and runs all movies I could previously open fine. Just this one will only play sound, but no video.

This really bites too because I know I am missing out on something spectacular.

Come With Me was exceptionally well executed. For that I applaud the creator. Nice job.....

I hated the music.... (I can't stand p diddly music) ....

That being said...I watched it last night. (go figure)

I'm DLing this one now..... sounds great from the response so far.

This one is OK, but it is not in the same league as Come With Me which just had snappier cutting, better compression (Pictures of War is ruined by too many artefacts), a more unique and driving sound track and much faster action. The first half of Picture of War (except for the great rocket launch sounds) was just too slow with nothing much happening due to the lack of any return fire from the Japanese base or ships. This is more like a Sunday afternoon matinee than a blockbuster.

Well, would you guys be surprised to know that PoW was simply an exercise in editing techniques, and experimentation rather than a polished movie?

Come With Me was really excellent, but PoW is on a par, definately. I think PoW 2 will be even better!

Winamp isn't the problem, you can watch it in WMP just as fine. Go to www.divx.com (http://www.divx.com) and download their latest update. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

http://www.divx.com/divx/play/download/ you don't need to install the media player I don't believe, just install the codecs.

heh, this is exactly why i used to make movies years ago. For years now my favorit game has been il2(which i found by accident), but when i told people about it, no one had ever heard about it. So i showed them http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

it seemed to work well.

I really wish the movie makers forum hadnt "died", these movies really help promote this game. No one that is a flight sim fan, can watch "Come with me" and not run right out and buy it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The movie maker's forum hasn't died!! It may not be so populated as it was before, but that's mainly coz a good number of the regulars are involved in a large project. But there are many new film makers coming through, and some are showing promise.

Unless you mean the VWC forums. It was a shame that went dead, but that's life.

There are many things to like about this video. The techniques, and format just to name a few. If those techniques are polished and used in a subsequent version (as alluded to in this thread) then I can't wait to see it.

For the most part, I agree with MadBadVlad. The combat radio chatter seemed very...erm...relaxed and a bit chatty considering the surprise circumstances and outcome. Nonetheless, the effort is admirable and very much appreciated. Especially the playability in Windows Media Player and the Widescreen format.

Keep up the good work and PLEASE keep us posted on future developements. I can't get enough of these and use IL2 movies to show my friends and others that often show a glint of interest after I burn their ears with my incessant babbling about my "little hobby".
