It would be cool if our resident photoshop experts could post here their idea for a BoB (DVD) box cover... This could even give the guys at gogamers.com a better pic for advertising the game...<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I never removed Boonty and got SoW out of the blue last week - it chugs a bit on medium settings and the lights go dim in my street when I fire my Whirlwind's guns, the NAAFI hut at Biggin Hill is in the wrong place and there's a modern container ship in Portland Harbour, not too sure if the Luftwaffe had F4 Phantoms in 1940 but not a bad effort nevertheless...<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

A good effort but I don't like the main picture, a flight of Heinkels all flying at 2000' and all diving over the English countryside???

They should be much higher.

Oh', and get rid of the Spitfire and replace it with a Hurricane, it would be more realistic that way. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I am playing. While I am flying and nothing is happening my engine keeps suddenly stopping and I nose over ad crash. It wasn't due to speed as I had been flying at the same or lower speeds for a significant period of time before. I have limited fuel turned off, so thatt shouldn't be the problem. I have stalls/spins turned off as well. This has happened each time I played and in a number of different aircraft..

Are you flying one of several aircraft that had negative G cutout? When you push forward on the stick does the engine cut out or stop?

VW-IceFire
10-25-2006, 07:38 PM
Yeah there's a few good reasons for engines dying mid flight without any battle damage.

- Negative G cutout
- Engine stall in a YP-80 (when you ram the throttle all over the place or go really slowly and high angle of attack)
- Improper engagement of MW50 boost
- Engine overheat
- Disabling auto prop pitch control and letting the engine RPM's run wild (Bf109 and FW190 a bit)

Speed isn't going to cook an engine except when prop pitch is set to 100% manual mode in a FW190D-9. Most aircraft in this game have auto pitch controls that will modify the engine RPM based on speed so thats generally not a worry.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

It happened a couple times in the I-153. Just flying level and suddenly the engine noise dies and it noses over. It happened in a few other aircraft, but I cant remember which (though I believe one was the YP-80) and I gave up as I can't play if I just fall out of the sky every time.

The only things I have turned on in the difficulty screen are clouds and vulnerability.

berg417448
10-25-2006, 08:48 PM
The I-153 is one of the planes with negative g cut out. It relies upon positive g force to feed the fuel. If you push negative g's (push forward on the stick) it will cut out briefly or die.

Zeus-cat

To dive, roll the plane onto its back and then pull back on the stick. This is how they really performed a dive in these planes.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

See maybe those planes you should save for later http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Try a nice fuel injected Bf109.

The I-153 has a carb feed fuel system. So when you push the nose forward the engine gets starved of fuel. Once the starvation is complete the engine is off and you need to restart. ...and because the I-153 needs a ground starter to get the engine to turn over you need to dive very fast and hope that the wind is cranking the prop around quick enough to start it.

This affects the I-153, I-16, Hurricane, and a few other types.

The YP-80 is another story....here the negative G is no problem. Nose down all you like. But what you shouldn't do is be violent on the throttle. That will cause the engine to stall (too much fuel at once). This is only a problem on some of the jets (try the Me-262, violent throttle manipulation results in both engines being on fire!!). So be gentle with the throttle and it should be no problem. Also...violent aerobatics will starve the engine of air. Usually its not a problem but some folks manage to do it.

Try the 109, Spitfire, Zero, or something else like these. They tend to be easier to fly, more forgiving, and were designed to be easy on the pilot both in real life and in game. Those should get you started.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I've had pretty good luck restarting the YP-80 after random cut-outs,by nosing down slightly(from level flight) about 30 degrees, assuming you have the altitude, build your IAS back up and try for a restart.
It's not 100% sure to work,but I did it 4 times in a single mission,and landed back home in fine shape.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
