Rand Miller is reprising his role as Atrus! Somehow I don't think you can make a Myst game without Rand.

Actually I got that info from the trailer. Rand Miller appears for a few seconds on the trailer wearing his Atrus glasses. He then turns his head and the scene ends.

Personally,I don't think they had much of a choice with that decision. How could they possibly change their lovable Atrus after three complete Myst games? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Actually that would be four Myst games since Atrus has a voice-over in the intro to Uru.

Its wierd that Rand Miller is a game designer not an actor, but they didnt replace him, as if they wanted him to look the same.
However they did replace Catherine in Exile, and it looks as though they've replaced Sirrus and Achenar in the Revelation trailer.

Catherine was different in Exile? I've always wondered about that. They did a pretty good job with her, though. I think that if they replaced Atrus, the fans would be pretty mad. After all, he is the big guy, right? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yes, the Catherine in Exile is quite definitely not the Catherine from Riven (paaaaaadlocks *twitch*)

What's funny is they got the woman who did the vocal dubbing for Catherine to do the vocals for Catherine in the realMYST trailer, as well as the vocals for Yeesha in Uru.

What's even funnier is that Rand has now acted three times (four if you count the Uru cameo) since he swore off acting *forever* after the end of Riven, and renewed his vow to *never* act again after working next to Academy Award Nominated Brad Dourif in Exile. The poor guy's never going to get out of the role...

And why should we let him, right? I mean, he's good! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Hmmm.... maybe that's why he looks so somber in the Revelation trailer. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

1. Yes I would of course love Rand to come back!!!
2. OK to clarify the Catherine/Yeesha actors:
In RIVEN, Catherine was played by Sheila Goold, but for some reason (anybody know?) they dubbed her with another voice, Rengin Altay.
In EXILE, Catherine was played by Maria Galante. Yeesha (the baby) was played by Audrey Uhler, the daughter of the producer.
In URU, Yeesha was a 3D model of course, and voice-overed by Rengin Altay.
3. "paaaaaadlocks *twitch*" <-- Lol!
4. Really? I didn't know Rand vowed never to play Atrus! He is the only Atrus! What would a Myst game be like without an intro voice-over from Atrus? When I played Uru I was so relieved that even after changing so much, they still had a VO from Rand Miller.
5. Well from the look of it he never "appeared next to" Brad Dourif. The only time Atrus meets him in Exile, the two parts were shot on a completely different set.

Reeeaaallly.... now that's interesting. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif You mean to say that they had two different stages set up for each half of Atrus's study? That's really cool! Thanx for the cool tidbit of info. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

From The Making of Exile

Well actually they shot FOUR pieces of video. He said they took 2 months to create that scene.
They shot Atrus and Saavedro separately on Blue, then added them to the 3D panoramic, added in the fire effects, etc. Finally they animated the camera view.
