The model is 90% mapped and I started painting the textures. I attached a few screenshots showing the layout of panel and rivet lines and early work on the rudder fabric bump map.

Nice work! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
I presume this is for BoB? I thought the specification for models for the Storm Of War series had not been released?

Don't know, but at least it isn't il2 standard.

Question: I see that you modeled it as a 4-blader, does it have Tempest tailplanes? All 4-bladed Typhoons had Tempest horizontal stabilizers and elevators to improve the elevator response and eliminate the flutter that caused the tail to break away in high speed dives.

absolutely beautiful....

Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
The model is a late version, fitted with Tempest tailplanes. I started working on a car door version a while ago, but I just couldn't find enough reference material about the cockpit and I had to give up.

I'd like to see it in SoW someday, but at the moment i'm not sure i'll ever be able to finish it. There's a lot of work to do, like internal structure, damage models, LODs, cockpit model...

Man, just reading this thread and looking at those pics makes me want to bomb the cr@p out of something.

Meh, I'll just go get started on that 2nd Hasegawa Typhoon waiting for me on my build table.

Truly great work Alex. I do suggest that in case you feel you can't finsih the model completely, please do send it to Maddox in whatever state you have it. Maybe they will finish it later.

Incredible.....the plane is going to be a beast down low, both as a energy fighter below 5000m and as a ground pounder.

Hi Alex_Voicu,
I was very excited and impressed when I saw this Typhoon - you have not answered the question? is this for update 4.09 or for BOB? or are you sworn to 'Russian' secrecy??? (sorry Oleg)
Great effort - I am currently working on a 60+ Static Historical Campaign based on Roland Beaumont's magnificent book - 'My Part of the Sky'- what a truely fantastic pilot he is - with a genuine 'love of flying' (in any weather)
What is very sadly missing in this campaign is the Typhoon - both the 'car door' version and the later 'bubble canopy' version.
I think I can help you with developing the 'Car door version's cockpit - have got some great old books and photos. Get in contact with me through 'Mission4Today'
Best regards,
DFLion

i always wondered, did No. 263 Squadron and No. 137 Squadron take part on operation jubilee ?

Low_Flyer_MkVb

Complete references not to hand ATM - Whirlies were part of 'Jubilee' - noses painted white, two white stripes on wings. Cannot recall off top of head whether one or both squadrons involved. More to follow.
