is it just me or is this game storm happy? i have been on like 6 patrols in career mode and there is no such thing as good weather... i cant shoot a cargo ship from 200 meters cause the torpedos will just bounce off... no deck gun in bad weather... that topic has been beat to death... i follwed a transport for an hour at 8x speed and the weather was just too bad... so i shot 4 torpedos at him and they all bounced off.... i tried magnetic and impact...

can someone bring up my 9??? maybe i can shoot the captain from 100 yards.. hey it would let me pass the time while i waited for god to clear things up a bit so i can see the **** ships at alittle longer range in rain!!!

Your magnetic torpedoes should never "bounce" off.

Impact torpedoes practically need a 90 degree hit to go off (about a 15 degree lenency at best, so 75-105 AOB), and magnetic torpedoes should be set about 1 m below the draft of the ship, probably more in stormy weather.

Hey macblastr , torps need 400m to engage , see the lil propeller in front of the torp ? that what it's for , to stop premature detonation ( especially on magnetic ) , and avoid circle-runners ( acoustic guidance turning back on uboat )
And for the weather it's random , i sometimes get good weather for 5 patrols whitch i *hate* cuz i just love sneacking up on a Revenge , Nelson and Illustrus Fleet Carrier escorted by a bunch of Tribal Task Force and rack up massive tonnage while in Heavy fog and precipitations , cuz it would be impossible to do in clear weather.

BTW magnetic is way better than impact , you can do under-shots ( like alanschu said and shoot 1 m below draft and the magnetic thing goes off under the ship blowing the keel apart )
and i don't see whats the point of impact...?

I don't think the weather is particularly good up around the north sea, irish sea etc. Well it's always **** in the UK so I don't see why the surrounding seas would be any better lol http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

It is right what OneEight telling you. Your angle to the ship must be something about 90? (+/- 20?) for best result. Otherwise you risk "bouncing" And also what very imortant is! The length that torpedo need to arm is about 400 meter. Set its speed to fast, look for weakest part of ship. (Merchants - fuel or engine room, warships - Ammo storage room)

But I can't tell you this about magnetic. I shot ships from behind with magnetic detonator. Just hope he will not change course. While your torpedo on its way. Set magnetic, 1 or 1.5 meter under the ship, speed - fast. And you have 90% to hit. And not forget about 400 meter to arm http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
