If FP can read our old FB installation data files and use FB planes, maps, and ground objects, then this maximizes Profit and Playability for all cos it requires you to buy BOTH Luthier's FP and Oleg's FB.

There, I had to do my own compatible thread. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

but there is Much Confusion about "standalone" vs "compatible."

Waht's that thing you have with "FP"? - Man, you even called the Bf109 an "Fb109" in another thread! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I think the concern is online configuration. If you have PF without FB and want to join a game of PF with some exclusive FB planes then there is a problem and possibly configuration control mess. If you keep them separate then there is no worries. If you want both you still have to buy both, so the only advantage compatibility gives you is to fly one title's plane in the other's maps.

Maybe it can be done offline only?

They very well could ship the AEP planes in PF but locked and treat the presence of AEP as the key to allow them to be utilized in a mission you make or host, thus allowing planes you can't use to be used against you, if you have only PF and join a mixed server. Want those other planes? Buy AEP. Or expansion packs - plane packs like M$'s Mech Packs could be implemented. Which would force current AEP owners to buy the same bits of code a second time. Only, few of them would be upset by it. Hell, I'd gladly do that to have the choice.

Alternately, if the code for the AEP planes is take right from an installed copy of AEP, then just lock the stand alone copies out of mixed servers. No big deal. If anything, it creates an incentive to buy AEP in addition. Maybe even setting it up so the map itself determmines that based on what's flyable, rather than the state of the installation of hte host. Again, more money for Ubi, more reason to do this, more reason to support the product and genre, and more choice for the players. Win/win all around except for the fundamentalists that want to prevent people from having a choice.

I am hoping for this as well, the creation of historical missions and campaigns that are neither in western Euro or USA Pacific. But I would hope the internet Biplane Servers can have great Fun with a Patched Flyable A5M or Ki~27 (A5M and Ki~27 fought against Chinese Gladiators in China).

Good point DDT, FP could let onwhine internet dogfight servers BAN Fb~109 just like today's FB lets you BAN Zero and Ki~84. The problem here is teh internet dogfighters' playmates, not the airplanes, but I have yet to see them admit to this.

Flight simmers who Hate airplanes, a sad day indeed. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I think it's some form of selective dyslexia. Many posters seem to have it as shown in the spelling of "What" as "waht" and "The" as "teh". They must be aware of the correct spelling but seem unable to actually use it.

I wouldn't join any club that would have ME as member!

Flyabels such as the Tempest and Ju88 that have been completed did not fly in the PF theatre..So FB and PF should be compatible for this crossover to work?
