I know it was said in-game but I cannot remember how to pronounce the "Ibn" part or the correct enunciation of "La-Ahad". Anyone know?

Ta: taaa (how you pronounce the O in the name todd)
air: like ahhh-eeer

Ibn: like eeee-bin (the bin is like a short beeeen)

La: lahh (like las angeles)

Ahad: aaaa-haaaddddd

It's Los Angeles, by the way...
And what's with all the extra letters? I definitely do not pronounce Ahad like "ahaaaaaadududududududu"

I think it's pronounced like "All-tie-ear E-bin La-Ahad"

At least that's how I said it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Well I thought that was a great description, prime. http://media.ubi.com/us/forum_images/gf-glomp.gif

It always came across to me as,

All-tie-ear

I never heard his last name in any of the games (or at least I think I didn't)

That's how Al Mualim seems to say it (imo)...

I know Arabic and Ibn isn't stretched and it isn't pronounced "ee-bin"

It means "son of"
So Altair's name was Altair, his father was La-Ahad

Al-Tay-Yur/Al-Tay-Er
how to describe pronouncing Ibn is admittedly difficult but in actual fact very easy to do.

Kind of like "Ib", and then "nu" but a veery short "nu".

Well I cant describe it, so you lot stick to your EEEEEEE-Bins and Los Angeles

Its not Al-tayer if u want to prononuce it like they did back then, then it should sound like this: Al-Ta-Er {The "E" is prononuced as u would say it in "Elk"} and his father is not La Ahad, atleast I hope so as in the game its not mentioned anywhere, Ibn La Ahad refers to his Mysterious Origins, Son of None, which further Implicated his Inhumane Genes

That made my day. "ahaaaaaadududududududu"

By the way, how come nobody ever spells his name right? "Alta´r Ibn-La'Ahad"

In transliterations from Arabic, there is no such thing as a proper spelling. The idea of a transliteration is taking a word that is impossible to spell in the latin alphabet, and trying to sound it out.

You could spell it Alteyir ibn la ahad and it would still be correct.

I thought that it was Ibbin La Ahad, not Ebbin. Guess I'm wrong.

Press Listen on the left part of the page (the one with arabic letters, and you will listen to the correct pronunciation Click Here (http://translate.google.com/#auto%7Cen%7C%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B7%D8%A7%D8%A6%D8%B1% 20%D9%89%D8%A8%D9%86%20%D9%84%D8%A7%20%D8%A3%D8%AD %D8%AF)
(i know the translation is weird but it's written correctly in arabic [except for a letter I changed to sound right])
Don't press "Did you mean:...." it's fine like this
This is the correct way in ARABIC not the way the devs say it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Everyone pronounces Alta´r differently

Al Mualim calls him - Alta-eer [ pronounced same as in Tomato.]

Malik calls him- Al-tyre [T has the sound of Th]

The devs usually say- Alta-yeer [T same as first.]

Ibn is pronounced as it looks I-b-nuh

La-La

Ahad[D pronounced as Dh]

Hell, just watch the opening scene video of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Desmond says Alta´r's name correctly.

Alta´r Ibn-La'Ahad.

Al-Ta-Eer Ibin-La'Ahad

Al-tie-year

A-hahd

That's how Desmond pronounced it in the beginning of AC2 and that's how I pronounce it.

I think he summed it up brilliantly to be fair to him. If you can find a better explanation elsewhere please share it with the rest of the class....

That user hasn't been on since June 2010, apparently.

Welcome to the forums, by the way!
