Do yours look this good? (Thunderstorm conditions on the Normandy map)

Clouds are now thicker, shaded according to sun position, and visibility range is increased.

When you fly low over them do you see your shadow surrounded by a rainbow? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

I may be wrong, but I think the "new clouds" are the default with the patch. That means everyone gets them. Adding the line allows you to turn them off, if there's too much of an impact, by selecting 0. What I'm saying is without the line, you will have the new clouds and the FPS drop, and no way to turn em off. I may be wrong....change the number to 0, and see what happens.

And Conkris is right, if you do not edit conf.ini, you'll get the new clouds!

Have Fun!

Hi there http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think by even selecting TypeClouds=0 these clouds are not going in to classic old clouds because before patch I was able to run at around 50fps and without changing configuration (running at excellent only) after patch when looking in to clouds when flying I have drop to 10 -15 fps so go figure out . After many upgrades on computer these clouds became unplayable for me.
Yes there is difference in color of so called new clouds and old clouds but there is looks like another new kind of rendering even for old clouds. Unfortunately there are only few clear sky and more with clouds when flying any given offline campaign http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

once i tried it in a thunder storm i could tell a deff. of course i went from about 60FPS to around 25 at times. not worth it at all to me.

I loose 5 FPS between full out T-storm and clear open days. SO...you guys need to debug your system. Too much FSAA for instance?

I don't have a super system so its doable on a two year old rig.

I'm with VW-IceFire here.

I haven't tested it measuring FPS yet, but have flown some offline-stuff, and it's only due to this post I found out the new clouds is default for 4.00.

I did not notice any performance loss, on a P4 2.4Ghz, 9800Pro.

Uh, besides anything above 24 fps is pretty flyable - if that's your bottom line.

Or are you saying that modern films are a bit jerky to the eye?

There's a blur factor in film that doesn't exist in video games. Everyone has their own standard of what might be an unacceptably low framerate... 24 is jerky to me. If 24 is the average, that means at times its much lower. That said, I'm able to run the new clouds in perfect mode at 1280x720 with 4x fsaa and still average around 60 or 70 fps. But I do have a fairly high-end system.

I'm definitely old school, anything above 20 fps looks good to me.
