The title says it all, what games have a good combat system that AC developers could keep in mind?

I know that their combat sistem will be the best one ever done but new ideas wont hurt.

Super Smash Bros.

By far, the best combat system ever?

But seriously, I like what I've read and seen already, even if it is only early. My understanding of what they're doing with combat is eerily close to what I have sometimes fantasized about seeing in a sword-fighting game.

Maybe I've just played too much WoW. :P<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Ninja Gaiden( i barely remember this game)
kingdom hearts 1 & 2 (the system wont work with ac, omg you play with donald and goofy)

i wanna see the skills you get in AC maybe youll get something crazy like in tekken

The AC system is good because there's no buttons to remember I've always hated having to remember combos i can only remember one really fun one that is usually really hard to pull off then there's the classic hit x over and over and the x and y interchangably umm that's about it

Assassin's has this timing thing where basically you time a counterattack and you win yay no buttons to remember and he's going to do pretty fancy moves without memorizing buttons so that makes me happy to

As for other games assassin's doesn't need new ideas at all. All the other games are about remembering combos I can't really think of any that had a good fighting system that hasn't revolved around remembering combos or just button mashing so there really can't be anything to pull from other games that might be cool but hey >.> I'm most definately prolly wrong cause i dunno there's gotta be something really awesome out there that i can't think of right now I forget what...

i just realized, what if you push the analog stick without holding any buttons. would you just turn around?

Good question. I dunno, like everyone else. I would guess you'd turn, but depending on whether you have the shift on or not, you might also just walk or run. It's a bit open ended @ this time on that. I do recall that it was stated somewhere that Altair, when in "stealth" mode, would automatically walk and act like those around him, like disappearing into a crowd of monks.

Mmhm, it seems actions are dependent on what's around you and what body part you decide to use, which is actually pretty amazing.

So if you ran at a bench and hit 'feet', he'd jump, if you pressed 'hands' he'd vault over... if you pressed the 'head' button, he'd probably translate the bench and then trip over in eagle-eye vision, or he might literally use his head. All speculation... >.>

I am looking very forward to this game, it's going to be one hell of a ride!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I would like to see a combat system where you can use your environment to attack, such as kick dirt in their eyes, or brush burning ashes at them, or kicking floorboards up and hitting them in the balls or chin. Bashing doors on them like on Splinter Cell would be sweet too. I would just like to see a system where you can use the environment as your weapon.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Hey new to forum been browsing for while thought id join.

Personally in sword fighting/melee oriented games i prefer to fight in first person allowing me to aim for bodyparts such as Dark Messiah and old Severence. But im presuming this games gonna be more 3rd person so obviously combats not gonna be that accurate? One game that i remember that was 3rd person and had exelent combat was the good old Bushido Blade 1 (sequels were apprently ****} on ps1, which allowed you to disable body parts by wounding them. I think this wounding ability would be perfect for assassins creed as in if you have just assassinated some one, your not gonna have time to hang around fighting guard, so disabling them would be more appropiate and helps for a cleaner escape.

ps sorry for the long winded first post, i still cannot believe how the combat system in Bushido Blade 1 is still over looked even by todays "modern" games, Mind boggling! anyone else played Bushido Blade?

pss if not check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bushido_Blade_(video_game)
just to see how far ahead this game truly was!
