Have read topics about the fustrations of fresh starters going online, only to get shoot down again and again.
Needless to say this discurages new players from going online, and prohibits the recruitment of new pilots.
Can this problem be solved by adding an autokick option for hosts, for instance two(3,4,5) kills, and your out.
Alot of focus in these forums is spent on the people that are skillfull on flying and tecnical issues, perhaps its time to make sure there is a playing field for everyone ?
After all this sim has been on the market for years, giving some of us a head start, lets not make it to fustrating to catch up !

lol. FBD has a deathkick option, perhaps you should get on their forums and request a killkick option.

What? Kicking people out because they`re good? There`s an Aesop`s fable about that one!

It`s the good ones that help the `serious` new recruits learn IMHO.

I do have sympathy for the new pilots.

I highly suggest you hook up with a squad that can fly on private server and get you some good combat experience.

Some of us do actually.... When they ask. Often a lot of new guys seem to think they know enough when you`ve barely begun and wander off. A lot of them tend to want a HOTFIX.

I know one well-known guy on this forum who keeps telling people how to take on bombers easily, but they just ignore him and continue whining. I`ve used it! It works!

At the same time I do know that there is a certain `elitist` attitude where the `Aces` like to KEEP their little secrets while others flounder... Yes, I`ve seen this too.

Anyone really good should either be bored and leave or wait around making no kills
until they find a newbie hunter that maybe can fight back.

Kick on kills isn't a bad idea if the server has something in the name like "Newbs-R-Us"
or "Wading Pool". Perhaps something to reset the counter every 10 to 20 minutes so only
the bullies get kicked?

And sometimes it takes 4-5 easy kills to find out that you've run into all-rookies.
Time to trot then.

I sypathise with the new user thing. I myself was an entirely new user not that long ago. Best way to start is to stop entering experienced dogfight servers and start flying coops when they are available. Whenever not coops, then try and find small dogfight servers.

Also...the game has an entire offline portion. You need to work at flying, learn the gunnery, and work on how you do things. Pilots didn't go into the fray very often without some hours of training. You need to do a little work, pick a plane and learn it for a while. Perhaps start a campaign with it and get a good feel for it.

Give yourself some offline time and then head back online. If you can beat a few Veteran AI's...then you should be able to compete with some of the online pilots.

I'm not the best pilot around...but my specialty is in gunnery. I practice accuracy and short bursts to bring down my target (I can achieve 12% accuracy or better - this I feel is good). Secondly I work on my air combat manuvering. Its a tricky thing the second one is...moreso than the first. Depends on your plane...some questions take years to find answers to.

Do a little reading, practice, and go and find some smaller servers.

This game does cater to new pilots...but the pilot is responsible for his/her own learning curve. Go offline first. Try the Quick Mission generator.

We all know how it feels to be outgunned. Once upon a time we have all been thrashed. My suggestion to you is to keep flying against the aces. Watch what they do and study! This is how you learn to be what they are.

Or you could just find a way to kick them after a few kills. What the heck do I know http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Good luck in your search.

The DF environment is often chaos. Them Aces to learn from are more likely to be
in coop, no? And in coop, there's only 2 sides so you get some Aces on yours maybe.

We all had to start somewhere and i think some of the 'aces' seem to forget that.
When i started online i would just sit on the ground and watch dogfights take place, this and a patient squadron helped me to improve.

Liberals can still live happily on their own in their communitys . . .

on the other Hand , Conservatives really need to be locked up

Hi,

I think it's the responsibility of the people in the server to take new pilots 'under their wing' (sorry for the pun). Imagine back in WW2 - no new pilot would be sent up completely green - someone from the squadron would take them out for a few dogfights (rat-a-tat-a-tat, BoB) before they took on the enemy for real.

The same goes for a DF server, IMO.

I'm certainly no ace but I will spend time with new people for basic procedures (multi engine starts, take off, landing, etc) and also ask them to wing up for a few flights to see what tactics need to be used.

Very often, you will get, 'Why aren't we getting straight into the action' or 'Why do we spend so much time climbing?', but they soon learn that it keeps them alive longer.

Try it some time - you might get some satisfaction out of it or even a very competent wingman in a short amount of time.

Cheers,
Norris

Can servers be set up with invulnerable planes and unlimited ammo?
Newbs could survive and others would either train or grow bored....

Even getting shot down can be useful if you've recorded the track AND watch it afterwards to see what you did wrong/they did right.

SeafireLIV is correct that some people expect an immediate fix - if there wasn't a learnng curve,it wouldn't be a sim trying to be realistic.

Maybe some Mod should start a sticky with helpfull hints and tips for US n00b's.

The other day I ask why the 109E was outturning my Spit5, when one guy ask me was I using trim. Needless to say I wasn't. After I started to experiment with the trim, I then had no problems with the 109's. Little things like that helps alot.

Correction:
convicted felons.

But who really gives one dead rat a$$? I see enough political BS in real life without this "I am a liberal/conservative/democrat/republican/horse's a$$/muckraker, knock this chip off my shoulder if you have the guts you wimp" baloney. All the rabid "I am a member of this party" folks may be surprised by this but nobody gives a damn.
