I couldn't make it to Frankfurt but I instead went to a place where there were cars who's status it will take the cars shown in Frankfurt many decades to reach: classic and cult. Here's the first part of several to come. I took nearly 700 pictures. Enjoy. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I left Mühldorf at around 9:30 AM on a very foggy Sunday morning and drove to nearby Taufkirchen. On the way I saw a few oldies making their way to the show. This is the only picture I snapped of an oldtimer convoy composed of several motorcycles, an Opel Kadett and a Fiat 500 all travelling at around 60 km/h.

The sun was shining when I arrived in Taufkirchen but it was still freezing cold.

And now we begin with the classic cars...

A Mercedes-Benz W123 240D for sale with the sporty 14" "air-cooled" rims. If I had the money and the space, I'd buy this baby without thinking twice. I love the W123!

The Steyr-Puch 650T, the Austrian version of the Fiat 500.

Chevrolet Sidestep Pickup I believe, not too sure with these older US cars...

This old Bugatti is always around at local car shows. I have yet to figure out who owns this rare car.

Opel Ascona 1.9. Hard to believe this good-looking mainstreamer was transformed into one of the most boring pieces of **** I've ever seen during the 1980s. Seriously, this looks handsome and elegant, the Ascona from the '80s makes some Toyota's look "exciting"....

This was one of the stars at the show, a Mercedes-Benz 319 bus. It later won third place at the "Best Car" awards. The owner came to the show with his wife and 5 kids. I got the impression that he uses this thing as a daily driver!

And here's a little something for all the perverts (including me!): BABES OF THE TAUFKIRCHENER CAR SHOW - Secretly photographed of course! Where's MEGILE? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

This chick was with her boyfriend. She wasn't bad looking, but the next one was a total babe.
http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u267/cawimmer430a/Tauf_01/Babes_01.jpg

Here she is. Check out that a$$! That's hot! She had a cute face too but I deemed it to risky to take some pictures of it, even secretly! Hot chicks know when you're taking pictures of them....

Another great *** and hot chick. She wore these cute glasses too that made her look really intelligent (despite being a blonde!). Great ***, great ***... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Babe on the right looking to her right. She had a nice face. Too bad she had a kid!

Babe with a baby. Nice body, the face could use some plastic surgery in certain places but overall she was dressed hot even though I suspect her to be in her late 20s / early 30s.

Used to drive a Ford Fiesta back in college. Nice 4 speed gear box. Not a fast car by any means, but quick off the line http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

first rule of going to car shows with a camera at your age that has babes around. Pretend your a photographer from a squirelly local tv station or something and get some action for petes sakes! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

if you want to hit the motherload rent or borrow a 16 mm pro film camera and protend your a german film producer! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

On second thought you wouldn't come back alive from that level of action.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Neat....it's so.....European. I love the Me car with the trailer; always have since I saw them in the early sixties as a kid. Cockpit looks like it's related to the 110. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Great photography btw. It's kinda hard to get good shots of chix at such events, which is why you have to pretend you are shooting something else, as I did at the airshow I posted here. Can't help it if they are in the background. Most of those pix I posted were very cropped from much bigger pictures. There were alot of motorcycles at a motorcycle show there and I made like I was shooting with my 100 to 400 zoom..those are the best pix. Others were just oportunity shots where the cleavage, er, I mean, oportunity, just demanded action and I just kinda pointed it in the general direction while holding it at my side.

Now the Hooter's girl in the bungy contraption sailing through the air in my thread was putting on a show, so it was quite acceptable to blatantly point one's telephoto and shoot (I wasn't the only one).

Now lest we be seen as "stalkers", there is nothing illegal or immoral about shooting at a public event. I don't advocate shooting through windows etc, but these chicks show up in their "do me" clothes (especially at air shows in the heat) and they are there to be seen more than actually look at anything. The only reason for being kinda sneaky is because many of them have gorilla knuckle dragger boyfriends who are unpredictable. I have often asked if I could get some photos and given them my card, and if alone, they usually are all for it. A few times their BFs were all for it, and I've even wound up doing wedding pix for them down the road.

The birds are part of these events, and most of them love the attention. What's better than cars and planes with hot babes. I prefer using terms like "stern" or "posterior" though....sounds a little more civilized (even though we really aren't). http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

OMG Waldo.....you have some serious issues here and need some genuine help. Click on this link to one of my photography sites and watch the slide show at least once a day for a week, then see if the problem persists.

If it does, then you must move to......San Fransisco.

Those roads do look "very German". If you have lived in Europe you can tell which is a German road, a French road or a Spanish road. British roads are the easiest to detect (look where the cars drive). http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Thank you again. And yep, I have some experience with "covert photography", especially when I take pictures of some cars on the street. I always pretend I am photographing the building behind it. If someone asks, I always have the "I am an architecture student..." excuse on hand (total BS http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif). http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Buddy, I completely agree. At public events like these, you can literally photograph anything. I had several excuses on hand just in case a girl got suspicious. See the last shot of that woman with the baby? She's looking at me. There was a convertible between me and her and if she had come up to me and asked, I would have said I was photographing an aspect of the convertible's windshield top as I am into "angles and such...". http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I liked the 319 MB Bus too. It has so much character for a little bus - in fact those older buses from the 1930s and 1950s and some from the 1960s are just gorgeous. These days they're all so bland looking. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Those are the European-spec Granada's. We have Ford Europe here and their models are vastly different from their American counterparts, even if they share the same name for instance.

Those Granada's only came with 4-cylinders and 6-cylinders. I believe this car was one of the few models to come with a V4 (yep, a V4) engine. From memory, I think the Granada was also sold in Australia and came with a V8, but I am not too sure on that. I know it's a RHD country that got the Granada with a big engine and Australia seem's the only choice as a big V8 wouldn't have done well in the UK, Japan etc.

You are right. Everything is so optimised and efficient nowadays. Back then technical things had their own look.

I love todays CDs and DVDs quality but old Phono furniture from the 50s looks so much cuter than the best DVD Recorder.

Especially love the two-colour Opels and Fords and as you mentioned, old busses and bread and butter cars like the Käfer and the Typ 1 Bus.

I think I am beyond help http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

Thank's for the info. That Granada looks like it would be a Mint Ride with a V8 under the hood and a little work on the suspension. Sort of like a Chevy Vega with a 350cid stuff into it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Anytime. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I just checked on Wikipedia. Turns out I was right about the V4 engine, but the V8 engine was offered in the South African version, NOT Australian. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

And I agree. Ford's and Opel's from that era were hot. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

WTF! is this forum about now? Nobody but one poster says anything but congratulations to a creepy voyer who sneaks about taking pictures of unsuspecting women at a public event. He better pray nobody who comes here knows these women.

They are not porn stars or glamour models to be turned into internet meat ffs!Its bad enough he demeans their rights by sliming around stealing shots of them but to then post them on a computer game forum for other oggling nerds is or should be criminal. What of the rights of that smiling mother and child....turned into w*nk fodder by him.
Personally I'd just take the law into my own hands. If I caught him at a public event taking his perv pictures of my womenfolk I'd ram his cameras so far up his jacksy he'd flash when he f*rted.
And if any of you 'men' think this harsh maybe you could send him some pictures of your own womenfolks a*ses for his collection maybe with a complementary box of kleenex. Perhaps he would be kind enough to post them here when he's done.

Mods ?.

Unbelievable.

I got the engine from a scrapyard, I think I paid for its weight in metal. Added new wiring I bought from a Opel Fanclub, not original but replica. New starter engine and battery. Mate of mine and me installed it in two days http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif In the end I think I spent 350 euro's or something. Pretty cheap! It helps to poke around in scrapyards http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I am thinking of getting a Opel GT in a couple of years or perhaps an old Mercedes. In the netherlands you don't have to pay roadtax if the vehicle is over 25 years old http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Christian, your timing was perfect. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I live in China and my wife is Chinese. The only places she's been outside of China is Dubai and Thailand. The other day she asked if I wanted to go to a car show during the upcoming holiday. In China, car shows are only about new cars.

I told her it wasn't the sort of car show that interests me. She had never heard of a classic car show and couldn't quite grasp my interest in seeing old cars,.....that was until I showed her your thread.

We are moving to Germany this year and after seeing your thread she really wants to see a classic car show.

Thanks,
