How are you getting Ship names in the log book?

And where/what did you attack?

bunkerratt

just running gw with updates sh3 commander ..i hit 3 convoys without escorts ..no fritz i'm not editing a dam thing..as far as the ship names...???..i belive it was an option...the convoys early in the war with gw have some huge convoys i let the carrier pass and zap the bb's and go away...normaly if you get in front of the convoys if some swordfish show up the convoy has 3 bb's and an aux crusier...just dive and wait moving at ahead 1/3rd... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/touche.gif

This is not fair or right Wilhelm. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Bunkerratt has more than proved his score in terms of all the "rules" and imho it MUST be added. It's obvious that GW puts a lot more heavyweight targets in harms way than the stock game, giving a major tonnage advantage and GW players are not trying to hide that fact, so just add their scores as follows:

bunkerratt (GW-Mod) - 341,670 IXB
Carotio (GW-Mod) - 212,778 IXB 204,024 IXB

Then stock-game players won't mind not being able to compete with them. GW players, your opinion?

The only other way is to start a GW x00k club.

The 100/200/(300?)k clubs are interesting and fun and I applaud you for doing this on behalf of the forum, but if you're going to manipulate the clubs and run them as Wilhelm's Private x00k Club Dictatorship, then you destroy its value and credibility for everyone.

Another example of this is that I pointed out an error in your "current leaders" table, but you choose to ignore me.

I suggest you rethink this. Are you doing it for the forum or for yourself? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Doug-
Not that I was being mean of un-fair it was just that I found 300K a bit(understatement) much and was therefore skeptical. But after your explanation I fully understand. Sorry.

Please Post in the 200K fourm.

What realism setting do you use ? Any SH3 mods ? I play purely stock, 100%, and the highest I ever got with my Type VIIC was 70k (to bad I don't have that screenshot anymore). Prehaps we can make a 70k and below club for the rest of us ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Well done Bunkerrat http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Mods or no mods, it still takes some serious skill and effort (and good fortune!) to get that kind of tonnage.

ty v .g .it's not like i had planned the patrol or anything...i thought after the first convoy what the hell i'll see what else i can find so i just went along untill i was out of fish and ammo..i have been playing for over a year and honestly play about 30 hrs a week..i work nights so i get home @0140 in the morning.i stick on the surround headphones ..and run..over this time i have got pretty good with the hydrophones.as i also worked with anti-infantry doppler radar in the service it was all sound interpetation so i'm really good at the hydro's..and yes..after running sh3 for over a year..i have gotten good with the type9 boats...i was just as wide eyed at the tonnage after the patrol..i sat and looked at it for about 30 mins untill the wife got up for work..she asked what i was looking at.she also looked twice..and said..dam...it was fun..it's just a game..so i hope i didn't start any kind of ruckus..again thanks http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif...now all i need is a 300k emblem.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Well, guys, you know what comes next, eh? That's right, the 350K club. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Bunker Rat, I may have asked this before, but in case I haven't, I'll ask now. I read in your post about you using surround sound headphones. When you have the chance, would you please post a link with info about them? Thanks. By the way, great patrol! Doenitz should have sent you to Japan; you could have done Pearl Harbor all by yourself.

Thanks, BR. I'm going to put them on my wish list for a bit later down the road. For the next while I am going to have to cool it with personal acquisitions: I closed a deal yesterday on a new Dodge Charger; today is my wife's birthday. Bought her some nice flowers today, taking her out to dinner tonight and sending her off for some spa time. Now a set of surround sound headphones may not sound like much after all of that, but they would probably be the proverbial straw to break the camel's back. And I don't want to be under the camel when it falls. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Your wife must be very happy that you bought her a Dodge Charger for her birthday. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Btw Wilhelm, kudos for doing the right thing. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif I would still mark the GW players though, so we don't get p'd off trying to catch the uncatchable scores. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif

Hmmmm... Surround sound headphones could be the answer for me too. Don't know why I didn't think of this before http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

My PC only has on-board sound with high quality Acoustic Energy 2.1 speakers, which are superb for music, and pretty good for games - but I feel I'm missing out on the full audio experience. I don't have the room for a 5.1 speaker set-up, so headphones are definitely the answer.

There doesn't appear to be any supplier in the UK that sells Turtlebeach hardware though. Do you know if Speedlink Medusa are good? I found this set (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=19561020225&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X3Jldmlld3M=&product_uid=103226), which has very positive customer reviews.

I will need to get a soundcard though. Which one do you use with those headphones?

VG, I have the room for the surround sound setup and on those occasions when I get to use them they are awesome. I have a powerful subwoofer under my desk which just rumbles the house when I play Train Simulator and I power up the big diesels on my locomotives. But there are times when such a set of headphones would come in handy, such as when everybody else is trying to sleep.

i'll look around for some sites for ya or vendors...i have a creative x-fi extreame sound card with 5.1's ..and it screams..the subwoffer will move the hair on your legs at 4-5 feet if i crank it up..but the headset works great for me after work on weeknights....and yes the audio is awsome when tuned right in the headset..hell i even saw a set that had small gryoscopes in them for a true spacial sound ..but i really don't think mama will aprove a set of 800 dollar mickey mouse ears... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif..be advised...you might find yourself crouching in the desk chair looking at the celing during a depth charging...it's awsome...
