Gentlemen

I'm confused. Should I have the AEP (Ace Expansion pack, with 400+mb, that I should pay 4,99 and download) installed before installing patches 2.01 100+mb and 2.04 which are free?
Because if I install these patches (2.01 and 2.04) over original game patched to 1.22 (which seems to work fine), it won't be good anymore, not recognizing any new aircraft and giving message for instance:
HierMeshObj:Can't load HIM3DO/PLANE/SPITFIREMKIXC(Multi 1/hier.him"
Was I clear?

Thanks
Walter

Yes!
Installation of AEP will bring FB 1.x up to 2.0.
Then it's ready to be patched up to 2.01 and 2.04!

Was I clear?
I think so... Am I?

Dear Mr FoolTrottel

In fact you are absolutely clear, and if I insisted also to be very clear in my question ( even though I was confused...), was to highlight the problem many people have with this jungle of patches that involves these fantastic games of Maddox.Anyway, thanks a lot...

Gentlemen

Well, finaly I installed AEP and runs fine. It shows V2.04 even though I still didn`t patch it to 2.01 and 2.04. Should I do that dispite it shows already 2.04? Showing 2.04 means that now AEP comes already updated?

Thanks a lot
Walter

The CD-ROM version AEP was 2.0, even when it came bundled with Forgotten Battles as "Gold Pack." I believe AEP was discontinued as a separate product and now only available in hard format as part of the IL-2 Ultimate Edition DVD (game version 4.05m).

There are pay-per-download versions of the IL-2 series so I'm assuming that is what you installed? Those are typically updated by the vendor, and that may be how you got to AEP's final version of 2.04 in one shot ... The next evolution/update in the series is the Pacific Fighters full product which will bring the game up to at least version 3.0, depending on what format you get PF. (Avoid online download vendors because at least one of them only sells the 'standalone' version of PF and that won't update FB/AEP you already have. PF is available in UbiSoft's "Ultimate Flight Collection" which costs only $20 USD for three sims, which is also the average price for the retail version of PF if you can find a copy on the shelves.)

Test your version by seeing if you have the I-185 Soviet fighter as a flyable plane. It will be available in the Quick Mission Builder.

Even though you already have the AEP, I'd strongly recommend you acquire the DVD version that not only includes the PF but brings it up to the patched version 4.04(Merged if you've done it that way). At that point the only thing you'll need (for now) is the PE-2 add-on which will bring you to 4.05 and allow you to join all the best servers online.

No, I suggest that you wait a month for this (http://www.fz.se/artiklar/article.php?id=1458).

Thanks people.

I think I`ll wait for the new "thing" skycat spoke about.
In the mean time, how can I skip the intro track. It`s a little nasty and useless. Do anybody know? Can I somehow delete it?

Thanks

Walter

There should be a program called Il-2setup.exe, run that and it will give you many options, one of which is the option to skip the intro track.
