I started watching a Russian-made 7-hour movie called "Convoy PQ-17". It's really well-made

and shows the fight between Germany, Britain and USSR north of Norway. Shows it from

perspectives of all 3 countries, not just one like in all other movies. It's too bad that

it's unavailable in English, I doubt that many of you will understand Russian very well. The U-boats are not modelled very correctly, but whatever.

most russian millitary movies are cheesy at best. poor quality and lack of realism.. use to watch them on my black&white tv during the communist era. the commies liked to show them as propaganda material http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
still, some of them did have good stories to them as far as i can remember.

It's absolutely nothing to do with the war or communist propaganda, but the only Russian movie i have seen is called Night watch. It came out fairly recently and is dubbed in English, i found it rather different than the average Hollywood movie about vampires and creatures of the night. But it has been fairly well received, i don't know why, i thought that it was kinda rubbish.
