Renders of the Tempest MkV cockpit, as sent to Oleg and company. Alex did a fabulous job modeling her.
Note, these are not in-game shots.

I'd say that that is the best cockpit for the game without a doubt. I can't wait for its inclusion should make for some awesome mathups against the D9 online.

Yes I will join the good critics here. That cockpit looks really really good and would be among few best in game if we get it.

Well IMO the Gladiator cockpit stays the best there is.

Compared with Me110 pit, this one is a bit sloppy on the dashboard but the amount of levers, dials, switches, lights and everything else than the dashboard is simply an amazing work!

Hope my PC can handle it! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

I WILL SAY IT NOW>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> YOU WILL NOT GET ANYWHERE NEAR HER..........

I might, as have friends work for the Company involved, a lot of friends in the warbird industry and I am a Chief Engineer and not a run of the mill Spotter...

K

MW763 tempest this is the aircraft in hangar 5 at gamston airfield which
is almost finished, it is very probable that this aircraft will not fly until very late this year or sometime in '04 as the engine has been with Vintage V12s in the US for three years now and the rebuild is still not complete. He said that he plans to travel to the states soon to see just what progress has been made as the airframe is ready and waiting for the engine. The picture in Flypast a few months back showed the airframe fitted with a static engine for cowl fitting only and not the reconditioned engine as hinted at in the article. So maybe next year's Legends 'surprise' http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Well it isn't, last I heard they were having problems sourcing parts for the magneto harness amongst other parts... But the Airframe is about done and i believe painted.... They are also rebuilding the IL2 Sturmovik to Static condition for the RAF Museum at Hendon.

Seriously DO NOT EVEN THINK of visiting as you will get some colourful language and some pretty precise instructions.... This thing has flogged itself around the UK for years so I will hold my breath......................

From the Hawker Tempest Page:

"The restoration of Hawker Tempest II MW763/G-TEMT is now proceeding again at an undisclosed Lincolnshire location, following a move from its former base at Sandtoft aerodrome. The fighter is one of a cache of seven ex-Indian Air Force Tempests recovered in 1979 by Doug Arnold.

The rebuild of the Lincolnshire Tempest began in the mid-1980s at Brooklands with Autokraft. In the mid-1990s G-TEMT moved north to Sandtoft."

I think the best chance of a V rebuild is probably Kermit Weeks example... though it seems to be in long term limbo. I concur, the sound of a real, live Sabre engine would be pretty amazing.

Captaine Haddock did something very clever and very time-consuming for the Gladiator... but the Tempest must have one of the best (or the best. I haven't used Il-2 for a while) cockpits for an aircraft that can be used on many of the servers! Excellential work! Stratosphericesque standards of artistual integritation! Extremual detailisation of the model and the textures!

(See, when superlatives fail me, I invent new ones.)

I hope to see this rendered in the engine! That will be nice.

Tipping the V1 was my dream, but I was dissappointed much in the same way as i was with the TB3 Sveno. Only way you could do anything with them was in a `one-off` mission, but you couldn`t use them at all as any part of any Campaign (say BOE for the V1).

As with everything, I tried to get some action on making this available in offline, but got little joy with the Sveno and after learning that AI don`t see the V1s, realised that the whole thing was really more show than substance... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
