That scan of a paper print is of bad quality compared to the glass negative.

You can see a much better copy of the photo at the Library of Congress on-line Wright Bros. photo collection:

Just choose "Preview all images", and you have a collection of amazing scans of the original Wright bros. glass plates.

yes, the 17 mb tiff is incredible!

- also check out the american civil war and Brady photos in the LOC collection, they are also great.
