A pic really doesn't do the trick. It needs to be seen "live". That said, i wouldn't get a 6800 on account of this. It's not THAT big of an improvement.
But, i was getting one anyway and i'm happy that PF looks better because of it.
You'll need one heck of a system to be able to run with water=3 and good fps though!

That looks like 800x600 to me w/no AA. 800x600 is the only way I can get acceptible fps with water=3 but I prefer to play at 1280x960.

I won't say you are not missing something because water=3=animated water, waves, washes and splashes. Really dooe look great.

Wish I had the machine for it, but I don't.

Actually I do, but running at 1024s768, or less, is not something I'm willing to do.

Whoa! Thanks for the pics. What vid card are you using? What kind of fps are you getting?

I have a 6800GT OC (factory OC'ed to 375) and the water DOES look awesome at 3 (just like those pics) but my fps are simply unacceptable so I run with water=2 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I don't know if getting the ultra and spending the extra 100 bucks would have made the fps acceptable or not, but I do know that, even thought it DOES look really cool, you are rarely flying around admiring the water anyway so I stay on 2 because you can still see reflections and stuff.

btw- sys specs

I only provide this info because it is info I would want to know if I was looking to buy a card. I don't know why this is so hard to find when someone is looking and reading reviews, but for some reason, the important info, like this, is left out.
