Got an X52. Although I planned to use only the throttle, I really really like the stick (more than my MS FFB2). I wish its tension was a little bit stiffer.

According to this forum, some people have successfully stiffened tension by putting rubber or plastic. But I have no idea exactly how to do so. BTW, has anyone changed the spring itself? Please shed some light for me.

Well looking at mine.. it would seem you could shim the spring up a half inch or more.. that would add some preload and stiffen it up slightly.. Lift the base of the spring up off the slider-cup and stuff something in there between the cup and spring... perhaps a rubber washer.. cut one side so you can open it and slide it into place..

I actually got real crazy over the weekend and flipped out the spring on my Old Cyborg 3D and it worked a treat its much stiffer and more like my 3D I was used too(dunno why I hadnt thought of it before)

I can't handle the spring in my stick so I 'rip' them out, so it feels like the real thing.
Call me a 'yanker' (not W.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif) as when i'm doing emergency stuff I yank the stick all over the place, and the spring would just slow things down and make the whole contraption move off my desk.

I actually prefer the looser feel of the '52 to the X-45.

A 1/4 inch drummers felt cymbals washer works like magic, just the right tension IMO. Cut to the center of washer and compress the spring downwards, insert the felt washer into the housing where the upper part of spring rests.

Wow,wow,wow keep em coming!!!

I had purchased the X52 awhile back but quickly returned due to a good amount of movement in stick which registered no movement in game.I hear that this is fixed in the newer models so I will try again soon.

The one thing though that bothered me about the X52 was how weak thestick felt.I would prefer a stick like a Cougar so reading these tips has me interested even more now.

I like the mod of putting in the cyborg 3D spring even if I have to buy two joysticks.Maybe after adding the new spring Ill also stiffen it further by doing opne of the mods mentioned here.

The center ring on cd's work great. I use 2 of them to shim the spring. CFS 3 discs seem to work best http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif
