I've finally finished my last little bit of work on The Setting Sun which is my latest campaign release for Pacific Fighters 4.04m (may also work with 4.02m and probably will work with 4.02/4.04 standalone but this is untested).

You will fly for the 59th Sentai which historically flew from Ashiya airfield in the northern section of Kyushu (Japanese home island). Mission objectives are varried from intercepting Avengers and Corsairs to trying to bring down a B-29 or two. Its a tough set of missions as you are generally flying aircraft that are slower, not as well armed, and not nearly as tough. But at the same time its very exciting and challenging. There is also a bonus campaign for Ki-84 lovers...you will fly select missions from the main campaign but with the 102nd Sentai for an alternate experience.

So far the campaign is available from Airwarfare (thanks for graciously hosting the campaign). Link here: http://www.airwarfare.com/Sims/FB/fb_campaigns_icefire.htm

Enjoy and let me know what you think.

"The Setting Sun"; very cool title. It's a wonder no one else has used that.

Sounds promising! I like the colloection of screenshots in the splashscreen in your post. Is that indicative of the quality of the campaign itself?

Thats the idea anyways...I like to do collage style posters with enough screen shots to capture the various activities present in the campaign. Gives you something to look forward to...hopefully.

I did my research and spent considerable time working on the missions. So hopefully it works out well...and if it doesn't I really want to hear back about what didn't work out. In general people seem to have liked The Shooting Stars, Lightning Strikes, and Turning the Tide and I have had almost nothing but positive comments about those. See for yourself http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Sorry, that question came out wrong; it was rhetorical in nature.

Again, about that title, it immediately sets the mood of the campaign; looming, ominous, and desparate. The player will know they are in for it before they even start, at least that's how I took it.

You can always tell when someone is an artist, either by their visual presentation or by the words they choose to communicate with, in that they tell a much deeper story than what is obviously shown or written.

Looking forward to it! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Downloaded and next round in the chamber after I finish my N/E Europe Tempest DGen campaign (just 12 missions to go http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)

@Treetop64: I understand what you mean now. I wrangled with the title of the campaign for a while before I settled on it...but being a visual person myself I thought it had the right sort of visual and historical connotation to it.

@ImpStarDuece: Hopefully the next campaign you see from me in a few months will be on that very map flying that very fighter. But this one is even bigger...at least 25 missions planned so far and five built http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thank you very much. I appreciate your work. This is one area in World war two Sim World that has negleted for the most.

I like to fly for both sides. Keep up the good work.

Thanks again IceFire ! You're getting more "professional" as you release each work. Cover graphics and stuff with this one http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You also don't hesitate to tackle the lesser known campaigns and less popular aircraft, and make them stars of the show.

Cool, read about her (intriguing, my real first name is variant of hers- Lilianna). I flew yakovlevs only for long time becasuse of this. Now I fly more IJA fighters.

The Litvak campaign can be downloaded from www.airwarfare.com (http://www.airwarfare.com). Just finished it- 71 kills and 6 awards. Unfortunately, I also managed to wreck 27 of my own aircraft http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

And if you require Litvak skins, you can find them for Yak-1 and Yak-1B at http://perso.wanadoo.fr/danielroger/jeux_video/il2/ccpc/main_ccpc2.htm
Not sure if they are 100% accurate since I recall reading that Litvak had a white rose painted on her aeroplanes which is missing from both, but they are a great improvement over flying with default skins.
Have now started the Setting Sun campaign....... the background looks great, Icefire!!!!!
