Is it a nature clip or a war clip http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I haven't heard even that many sparrows in an Attenbourough doco..flak sounds are crisp and cool http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

There's a bit too much echo with distance, it sounds like Flak in a barrel at the end, but otherwise excellent!

VERY nice sound, sounds just like the iraqi air defences when operation Iraq the birdsounds are a nice touch too. Never really played CFS.

watchout foo.bar rocks will be thrown if you compair anything in cfs3 to this game http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

cfs3 does a lot of things better imo, fps, fullworld terrain, weather, clouds, cem, high altitude look, stick pressure, sounds, weapons effects, reflective models.. but il2 series does alot of things better then cfs3 also like difficulty locks, water graphics, 3ds aircraft & ships models, cockpits and most important anti cheating messures.

i don't even have that game, mate http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif and i don't want to buy it.
i am playing IL-2 for 3 years now and it is the solely game on my pc.

i have it installed still with alot of 1% addons firepower and a few other things, I fly fb/aep/pf alot more but do fly cfs3 time to time and its fun.

on 1600x1200 full graphics aa af on i get over 200fps

in il2 on 1024x768 with everything on excellent no aa af on i get avg 70 fps but over cities or ships firing can go as low as 20fps high alt as high as 140fps looking directing up with locked pit.

btw foo.bar can you send me a PT if you have any of your skins on a private site.

Do you know why the sounds for the IL2 series havn't been upgraded? IL2 sounds seem to be very lacking compared to the other sim.

Red Baron II/3D and B-17 Flying Fortress II both had good flak sounds for their day.

Now I know why I splurged on my Z560's instead of being satisfied with $50 speakers. Thanks. Now if powers that be can upgrade.

I still think the original IL2 sounds were better than what we have now.

Sound is the weak point of FB all engines sound like lawnmovers and many have the EXACTLY same sound. I'd give up "advanced" 3D sound for simple realistic pre-recorded realistic sounds.

Also in IL-2 the original I remember sound to be much better, you could hear the turbine whine on Bf-109...was cool. During the development of FB sound actually regressed. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

you would have thought that PF would have upgraded the sound technology of IL2 series but it didn't. Sound is a critical part of the immersion factor and Il2 has always been greatly lacking in that department. if there was a viagra for game sounds, then Il2 is a prime canditate. hearing those flak examples and engine sounds folks posted is amazing. let's hope that oleg gets it together for BoB. Personally, I wish they would just forget all this fancy synthesized **** they've been using and just use good ol' fashioned wave/mp3 files for sounds.

Every time I see some footage from CFS3 with the Firepower addon it makes me want to get it.

I didn't like CFS2 that much and that's what's been keeping me away from it so far.

I'm tempted just so i can play with 6DOF.

This is actually a realism vs. playability question.

In reality, pilots heard flak only when on the ground or when it was VERY close to them.

Okay, Po-2 pilots could hear it. But even in the I-16, between the engine, the wind, and the helmets not much got through.

When closed cockpits came around, one heard even less of the "outside" world. Think about it - how could one hear the radio otherwise?

Impressive. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Don't quite believe my ears..did not think the Cfs3 sound engine was capable of that. Especially the flyby sound. Will have to check out Firepower to see/hear for myself. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Yeah I found out that Firepower is only the beginning.

The community has since made even more mods to the game. Someone said the freeware stuff out there is even better than the Firepower addon.

So far it looks great and I've heard the FMs are pretty good as well. I don't know but I'm sorta on the fence about getting it to try it out.

I too re-installed CFS3 in preparaion for my TIR vector expansion arrival but woe on to me, it appears to only support a single contoller? It doesn't seem to be able to map multipler contoller IDs like Il2 can.

I'll admit that is good flak sound....but the only thing I like better on IL-2 over that is when u fly low to the ground, u see tracers and machine guns on the ground shooting up at u, not just the flak exploding from the guns.
