View Full Version : Been upgrading my pute - fps differences

10-30-2004, 04:26 AM
Starting point:

Athlon XP2100+
768MB PC2100 RAM (266DDR)
ATi 9800 Pro 128MB

AEP 2.04 Perfect Mode
ATi Catalyst 4.7
Win XP SP1

Black Death average fps (3 runs) 22fps

Installed Net Framework & SP2
Installed ATi Catalyst 4.10

Black Death average fps (3 runs) 28fps

Installed XP3200+
Installed 1GB Crucial Ballistix PC3200 (400DDR)

Black Death average fps (3 runs) 34fps

Installed Pacific Fighters

Black Death average fps (3 runs) 28fps

I made sure all the settings for the graphics card and game were consistent.

A free graphics driver update gave me the same increase in performance as a new CPU & RAM.

PF puts a dent in your fps

I did the the same upgrade earlier this year.
The biggest difference you will notice is how much more aircraft etc you can run & smoothly.
That is where the new cpu/ram comes into its own.

Ahhh. I'll try that huge bob mission that came with UQMG - I had about 1 fps previously.

I like these kind of threads Scampi, unless somebody shows up and says, "what are you trying to prove?"

So scampi, tell me more about your sig pic. It reminds me of those dog and cat snuggling pictures.

Is it real or did you make it?
If real, do you know when and where it was this taken?

*(Sometimes the oddest things intrigue me.)*

Beehop - I got the picture from the excellent web site www.bf-109.de (http://www.bf-109.de) which has loads of 109 pics. If you contact the author of the site, he might know something about the history of the pic. Tell me if you find anything out http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

With 100+ plane mission file the 500$ 800XTUltraProGT gives same fps as Trident integrated motherboard chipset (free on old MSI motherboards). http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You need good CPU and RAM for intensive missions. XT800Ultra does not calculate AI aircraft or anti~aircraft bullet trajectories.
