Would love to hear them http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif was it worth the wait/grief? and how are the pedals coming along?

Yea I like it alot its like it was the mother of all patches with all the new planes ships artillery everything it is just freakin awsome,I'm still waiting to play online with people I know from here though http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif(hint)
The pedals eh not so well, they were about one foot too high http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif, and they wouldn't turn left (maybe it was stick) but I plan on getting some material to build anew, maybe metal but probably wood again I just have to keep them small this time. But thanx for asking. And as far as my times online have been goin I liked the standalone game better as it is now,
I haven't been able to fly with anyone I know, I'm completely out flown by everyone and I'm vulched continuosly and asking them to stop let me fight in the air I just get called names, And then they just kep goin no matter what field I choose to fly from ,I think some guy got 6000 points off of me the other night just by vulching continuously.I must also add that I am a bit disappointed in that most of the servers for the merged game are full real, while that is obviously more realistic ,I can't fly like that I just get lost and confsed very quick I can't manage the engine I can barely make out fuzzy instruments and can't shoot anything . So I'm thinking it wasn't meant to be I guess I'll just play pf online and save the rest for offline use, except when I find a server with people in it that I can fly in .

Heya,

Well for the vulching i always use a good trick that works every time, Take a He111 and 2 x 2000kg bombs, set delay to one second, wait till the bait is reeling in, then drop your bombs. Its always funny to see them blow up in the sky or hit the ground, bye bye vulching points http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif.
Dont forget to type "OOOOOPS wrong button" in the chatbar. Now you have time to take off after you have hit "refly".
If they kick you from the server, well who cares, there alot of other servers.
When the Pe8 is flyable (some servers have the AI bombers) take the 5000kg bomb it is even more fun.

SLO you must be picking bad servers I think.

You will die continuously until you get better, everyone does, this is a very hard game compared to others.

I recommend UKdedicated 1 for you. You can fly wonderwoman view just until you get better, speedbar is on and map icon too.

Its very much a historical server with relaxed settings and the admins are great, vulching is not allowed and most people will help you out if you ask a question (as long as you are not toop annoying http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)

If I see you on there I will help you out. <targets tells you where to defend and where to attack to win the map for your team.

Try it out! If I see you on there I will help you.

Agree - UKDedicated1 is a good server to get started on.

And don't worry about getting killed - you will be massacred for some time, but the more you fly, the more you will improve.

Almost everyone here did time as target drone mate http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif and some of us still are http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif

CD_kp84yb: I did that last night in a Ki-100 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif I was on my way with 2 x 250kg bombs to the enemy base, when my rival pilot, in a Spitfire bounced me, so I made my way to the deck. After taking a bit of damage, I finally convinced myself to drop them, as it was likely I was gonna make it to the airfield. Well lo and behold, up he went in a woosh of flame http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif and a woosh of language too http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Nah he was a good sport http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Hey there slo!

Do you have a microphone mate? If so I strongly recommend you find Teamspeak2 here (http://www.goteamspeak.com/index.php?page=downloads) (click 1st Download link for "Client.. 5.59MB").

Then fire up HL find the Spits v 109s server and see if you can find me, 402_ Fenrir. If I am there, get on TS and I'll fly with you mate!

It's a full real, but it has the advantage of removing that constantly vulched atmosphere, plus, although you can get shot down easily, if you keep your wits about you, its easier to get kills - no F6 key means its actually possible to bounce and surprise people which when you're starting out is gonna be your main way of getting kills.

That offer is open to anyone who wants to try out full real BTW.

Which server was that? Most discourage that sort of vulching behavior and kick repeat offenders.

I would recommend you check out UK-Dedicated1, JG-Oldies, 334th_Dedicated, and RCAF-FB for more paired down settings. I prefer those types of settings myself...I don't always have time to fly 30 minutes between bases and get bounced by the guy I couldn't see behind my armor plate...I do enjoy that sort of thing from time to time but those servers will get you started.

I would recommend you look into getting a microphone (even a cheapie) and TeamSpeak as this will boost your teamplay abilities immensely. Particularly on UK-Dedicated where the TS server is usually filled with regulars.

Never a truer word spoken http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

(Before everyone comes in and tells us how we should fly full real, I like flying real settings too quite often but not if I want a fun/enjoyable game. WInds Of War is a great server for those settings, varied maps and friendly pilots)

Hey Slo, I know that vulching can be a problem. There is much less of that going on in the full real server's. I like spits vs 109's the best. If you ever see me on, join in, we will fly together. Teamspeak is a must, mic's are fairly cheap. Don't get discouraged, everything in life requires time, and practice
As for getting lost, and confused, I use a writing board that you can erase with a finger.( you can get one at Walmart about 3 dollors) At join time I jote down all the info, runway heading, heading to target, heading home, target type, etc.
you can see your instrument's better if you hit gunsight view (I think that it's the delete button, but I have it assigned to a control button)and use the mouse to look at a guage. Hang in there Slo http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

yea only vaulting i do is with bombs in servers like 334th. now in warclouds all bets are off. i have no honor. its kill or be killed. kinda like that old western movie "suport your local gunfighter" when the main star waits till the guy turns around after "calling him out" and clocks him over the head with his pistol. the lady was taken aback and says "did you just you hit him while his back was turned" the man repies . "yea, just as hard as i could". lol thats me. if i can get you on the ground then thats safer for me http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. but yea repeated vaulting in a sever like 334th ect get's old real fast. some times ill do it to players i know just to mess with them lol, you can ask CIA_FlynRooo about "friendly" fire and "accadentle" midair colissions LMFAO.

I went on 334th the other day and was suprised how easy it was to vulch by divebombing, I just took my P-40 up and causually flew in a straight line direct to the enemy base at about 2000m and lobbed them in time after time, must have done it 5 or 6 times and noone even bothered trying to stop me, I wouldn't get away with that on most other servers I have tried, especially not doing it exactly the same way each time. The rest are all too busy dogfighting on the deck.

I think I prefer servers where there is a set task or goal, like on the UKdedicated, so I can take a bomber and do some landscaping or if I take a fighter and get bored I can go and strafe some trucks http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

334th can be great fun if you take a plane up to about 3k and pick off people as 99% of the players w tnb's at grass height above the airfields. It is the ultimate example of an arcade server where you see La7's running round and round like a dog chasing its tail, but it can be fun. I still prefer full real or limited icon servers though.

It seemed that playing pf online was more casual but when I got to forgotten battles it changedm\,every server is full real with only a few exceptions ,and I seriously tink some of these guys are wearing frickin G suits or something, I black out and they pull a tighter faster turn to kill me while I'm flying straight. probably not but stilll I think they are.

Xiolablu3
04-04-2006, 11:26 AM
Do you have force feedback? I only have a very cheap (2.99 off ebay) Microsoft Force Feedback Pro, but the force feedback allows me to ride the blackout right on the edge without actually blacking out.

When I didnt have force feedback, I found it very easy to blackout because I had no way of telling if I was pulling too hard.

You have to remember that some of these guys are Ace pilots who have been flying for years. You will get shot down and wonder how they pull such moves, but remember that you learn a little evcery time you fly. (Also, if you were wondering, there are no cheats for this game really, not like aimbots or dedicated cheats.)

Thats why this is the ultimate addictive game. Its totally unscripted, different every time you play and totally free form. You get better the more you get shot down. Its trial and error.

Stay high and fast, if you get low and slow you are a sitting duck. (low and slow results from too much turning and burning) Everytime you pull a turn, you lose energy/speed.

If you get low and slow, get out of the fight as quick as possible and climb again. Oh and kick yourself for getting low and slow.

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Dont forget many on those easy settings servers are using the F6 key to find an enemy and flying with no cockpit. Flying with cockpit on in those servers will put you at a big disadvantage.

There are many very easy settings servers, and many full real servers. But not too many in between.

Ukdedicated 2 used to be a good 'intermediate' server, and I think it is returning to this in a week or 2. (There is hardly anyone on there now that realistic settings are on there and so its returning to the old settings) This server will have cockpit on, but padlock and external views are enabled. I think you would find this a great server to learn on.

good thing to do is join something like il2war

there is always full real coops going and the good thing is the airfields are mostly situated in close proximity to your target. read the briefing and it is easy enough to find your way there and back again.

took the scare out of full real for me.
i still get lost on the full real dogfight servers though http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

the air quake servers are fun too though. fast and furious. great to let off some steam.

oh and yes use f6 whenever its allowed http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
