Does anyone know a quick fix for jammed Saitek pedals? There's nothing on the web, the vendor is 350 miles away and it doesn't look like Saitek are going to phone me back any time soon.

If you have had this problem and know how to fix it without using brute force or taking the back off (don't want to invalidate the warranty) let me know.

First thing this morning I fired up my PC to fly a mission (my first in months) with my brand new pedals. Turning left out of the parking area my pedals jammed at full travel and my kite came to rest against a conveniently placed hardened aircraft shelter.

I then hit eject to investigate the problem. To add insult to injury my trusty A-10 set off by itself.

Have you loosened the tightening/stiffening 'bolt' - that centre wheel between the pedals.
Otherwise you might find a wheel or guide that the pedals run on, might have come loose and jammed. You'll have to open it to see this, or give the pedals a gentle shake (disconnect it first) and see if anything 'bounces' around inside

Also don't forget to log this in your flight report. Someone in the ground crew is going to have a sore butt. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

My Saitek pedals did the same thing. They sent me some parts to fix it myself but I have not had the time or desire to take it apart. I only had mine for 6 months before they broke. I am back with my CH pro pedals for now.

The splendid tech chappie at Saitek just phoned and emailled a pdf with the fix. That's what I would call good after-care service

It's not on their web site yet, so if anyone needs a copy I'll post it on mine.

I was dreading having to send it back to the vendor as we in the UK have got postal strikes on at the moment - just like back in the good old days http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I had the same problem within the first couple of times using it. I opened it up (a LOT of screws), made sure everything was back in place and screwed it back together again. The problem has never appeared again.

Well, that was easy, already fixed.

I tried those peds, Havok, just too close together for me. That and pushing rudder feels too much like applying brake for my taste. Still, good peds for some. I like my Saiteks, nice wide stance, lets your ...

Your quite right about the spacing issue and I do know what you mean as Im not a small fella. Over time I guess I have grown comfortable with having my feet 45 degrees and I do have the pedals a good distance away from my chair. This could be a problem for some with limited spacing. I have had the opportunity to try the Siatek pedals when I visited Pappy for a for days up at Ft. Drum. They were noticeably more comfortable but I did not get that sturdy construction feeling like I do with my CH pedals. Back when I had an X52 and the twist went out I would have most likely gotten the Saiteks, but they were not out yet. Im kinda glad because I got to try out the legendary tuffness of CH gear and it was easy to decide on the CH Hotas. To each his own I suppose. Good luck with the fixing.

S!

I've posted a copy of the rudder pedal fix that the very helpful tech chappie at Saitek sent me on the front page of my site:

http://www.dpsflight.com/

Look for the link to the pdf under the Russian flag.

If you give them a call they will send the mod (four plastic triangles) to you in the post.

10 out of 10 for customer service I'd say.
