I caught some of it, but it was tough to watch while entertaining guests. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Hopefully they will air it again at some point.

But was there anything not already well known? What is "The Lost Evidence", Bear?

Yes! What was the lost evidence?

Surely it wasn't, that if the Germans had continued on their campaign of attacking Airfields as opposed to bombing London. They may have defeated the RAF?

Or was it something to do with the development of the ME 262 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I wonder why whole groups of Stukas were send out to punch holes into Chain Home prior to Adlertag...

Hi all,

The programme is available here on Youtube in 5 parts. It's either a US or Canadian production (sorry guys from across the pond but I can't tell the difference in accents http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif).

The best bits are the recent interviews with the pilots.

There are contributions by British historian Stephen Bungay which are excellent. He wrote 'The Most Dangerous Enemy' which some of you might recognise as a superb work.

Ventnor was put out of action for a short time by bombing and some other installations were attacked.

On 12th August 1940, four CH stations were selected for attack by the Luftwaffe. After causing damage to the radar stations at Dover, Rye and Pevensey the bombers headed for Ventnor where they were intercepted at the start of their raid. The station suffered considerable damage which forced it off the air and most of the buildings were damaged or destroyed; casualties were however light with only one soldier being injured.
Following this raid a mobile installation was brought on to the island and set up at Bembridge. It was operational from 23rd August 1940 and remained in use until the station was repaired.

As a result of this attack, it was proposed by the Air Ministry that the majority of Chain Home stations should be provided with reserve equipment, either underground or remotely sited. Buried reserves were provided at the more vulnerable stations (i.e. those on the east and south coast) consisting of underground transmitter and receiver blocks.

On some stations the transmitter and receiver buried reserves were together on an adjoining site (often the next field). At others the two buried reserves were separate but located close to their respective above ground building.

8 August 1940,
"Adlerangriff": Göing orders the Luftwaffe to destroy the RAF defence-system (fighters and radar) within 4 days. The first large wave of German bombers assault England.

Oh NO! Avro, you know what you've done!!!!

In the second part, theres a 109 with a drop tank! EEEK! at least it didn't look like it was made of wood! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

No really, thanks for the links! They are really good!

I like the bit in episode 2 where Mike Creskel was talking about the Stuka, "with only one pop gun at the back" was "one of the Easiest planes to shoot from behind". Obviously they didn't have the sniper AI gunners on the popgun!

Agh? You really need to improve your reading comprehension quite a bit. So http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif. I was supporting your statement that the radar installations were attacked.

To help you along, Ventnor was a radar installation on the Isle of Wight.

Sorry.
Your signature and your overall efford on the forum shades everything you say in certain light.

And there was I thinking you'd like to spotlight
the usage of covered auxilary stations wich operated unbothered mostly for the purpose of falsefying my first reaction...but after a second thought, that wouldn't look like you at all,ey? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

PS
If that was not your intention and I overestimate your efford, I offer my honest apology for this misunderstanding.

Well truth be told I heard more than I saw.. I was looking at the footage more than anything else as I was also trying to get my rig together and help a squaddie get his MS stick profiled right in XP-64 using 3rd party profiling SW on TS so I was in & out ... I don't know the full history of the BoB.. just when it happened and enough of an over view to have an idea of some of the planes involved and the gist of what happened..... Perhaps they were talking about a first wave that didn't know @ the radar or whatever.. I don't know... but I enjoyed what I saw... a few interviews with pilots etc...

I saw it...very good info. The lost evidence was very interesting. The historians found out, after looking over 1000's of pages of documents, that the 109 sucked and the Brits whooped some arse.

I saw it. There was much superb gun camera footage of P-51s blowing Fw 190D-9s to pieces, of Hellcats knocking down G4M2s, and of B-25s smashing small freighters with skip bombs off Lae. As with most gamers, I deeply enjoy seeing catastrophic disassembly of material objects! I was impressed, as usual, by the narrative which included detailed information on the devastating fire raids on Tunbridge Wells and Stonehenge. The part about the crucial role played by Peter Strasser and the Kaiserflotte's zeppelin bomber force in bringing Essex girls to their knees I found particularly scintillating.

Given the view angles I think Mr. Cruise is flying the Mosquito FB.VI in the game.
