Well my father built desktops all his life and his father before that built desktops. So it just seemed logical for me to go into desktop business. I'm working on a lovely oak one right now as a matter of fact.

I use neither a background scheme or a screen saver. Mostly because a desktop scheme lowers the performance of your PC, especially when booting up. Makes it take longer. I just use a plain blue background, thank you very much.

As far a screensavers it's well know they are entirely unnecessary these days. Even by the year 2K most CRTs were resistant to etching of the phosphorus. For LCD screens and other similar types, they are nothing more than pure entertainment at best. And another slight robber of system resources.

OK people, nice topic which has the possibility of going off the rails quick ....especially if someone forgets to remove their "shemales vids" folder from the desktop before posting a pic of it....... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Nice shots!I feel like a idiot for asking but....How do you take a pic of your desktop? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Honest question. You can post the actual file you use for your background (as I did) or you can capture an image of your desktop by hitting the Print Screen key and pasting it into an image editing program like Paint (comes with Windows) or PSP or Gimp.

Once you have the image you upload it to an image hosting site like photobucket ( www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) ).

Once you've uploaded it to the hosting site you need to cut and paste the URL into your post. You need to use the IMG format for this. If you use photobucket it will list the different formats below the picture. The IMG format is the last format listed.

VF-17_BOOM... There are quite a few different screen capture utilities out there... go to google and pick one that is right for you.

I have one that is very simple and all the screens shots go direct into my picture files. I then just upload them into photobucket.

And they are Free. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Here is the one I'm using [Gadwin PrintScreen]... http://www.gadwin.com/printscreen/

Let's see if this works.

Edit: So, Picasa wouldn't work, so I used Photobucket. This is my work desktop

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n271/crucislancer/jndesktop.jpg

Note that I had to make an alteration so I didn't piss anyone off.

Bit off topic, but some of you got very bright desktop images with white text for icons.

Got a bright image too, nearly white, and iconoid (http://www.sillysot.com/) changes them into black text with no drop shadows or visible boxes.

The show was great.

15 B25s in the air at once.

Plus the usual warbird action, and The Blue Angels.

Aero geekage at it's finest.

I'll start a new thread with pics tomorrow.
