hi guys..............just a few lines to express my disappointment at being unable to run the simulation for lack of cd-rom 2 which i inadvertently threw out when fitting a new cd-rom to my machine..........i contacted ubi-soft to ask if they could see their way to replacing it and their answer was a flat no.........no explanation given............i find this an incredibly inflexible and user-unfriendly approach...........as a matter of principle i have no intention of buying another copy so i guess that is that...........so i wish you all happy shooting..........alan d kerr

And the reason for posting this here is...?

I think its entirely rational for UBI to say no, you might as well be some lamo who doesn't want to spend any money on this sim and thus try to get it the free and easy way.

Eventually I don't get it why UBI should give you a CD for free if it was YOU to leave the CD in your old CD-Rom ...

... sorry, but I just don't get it ...

Hi Ther is a no cd patch on this board somewhere so you should search for it to fix your problem, I downloaded it myself so as to not keep putting cd2 in every time I play F.B.

The price of FB will probably drop to $20 before long and you can get a copy cheap. Also, did you offer to return disc 1 to UBI in exchange for a new copy of the game.

I really hate to have to keep the CD in the drive. I have never pirated software except for continuing to use shareware utilities after the expiration date and I don't do that often but the software companies think they need to protect themselves. I think most folks who buy FB wouldn't let anyone else copy it because they want as many copies to sell as possible.

If you need more advice, you might consider posting a temporary e-mail address where someone might contact you.

just to keep the record straight guys i sent ubi-soft a copy of the e-mail confirmation of my original order to PC World magazine and have said nothing to indicate that i expected a free replacement..........and were i some lamo as the contributor above suggests looking for a freebie why would i only be looking for cd-rom 2.......let's keep it sensible,,,,,,,,,,,,,

If i well remember, UBI must be able to give you a backup copy of your CD if you ask them... There should be a small fee, but much lower than buying original game...

did you try this approach?
