I have Altec Lansing surrounds - and yes it is.
The sub woofer is the key.. specially with the dial up all the way.. MGs pound away..
The 110's twin engines have a nice rumble too

I got a set of 5.1 surround speakers & hooked them up. They sounded great and the effect was highly superior.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I had to put the headphones back because I kept hearing loud voices from upstairs at about 9:30pm telling me it was time to go to sleep (the kids...not me) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/1072.gif

I got a surround sound set up and flew a mission that took me through some AAA
I nearly jumped out of my skin when the explosions started all around me. Truly terrifying.

But that was with the original IL2 The effects with FB aren't quite as dramatic. Still a great improvement over stereo though.

It can be a little disorentating to suddenly having sounds from behind you, but it is cool. I hear you on the base on the 110's... I have to turn it down at night or my wife complains.

Klipsch 5.1's are awesome. Too bad I use headphones most of the time.

Don't waste your time/money on speakers. Buy quality headphones.

Speakers are just louder to your neighbors.

I use the KLIPSCH system. It had the only
subwoofer that didn't clip when ya pushed it.
When I play I also pump music through a set of
JBL 4208's.....nice n' loud!
