basicly.. this is a repeat of a reply I did to another post.. ill copy and paste...-->the P39 in 1.1b is a joke.. its basicly an F16 (not trying to be funny here) I went head on with one last night... crossed the path at about 750 kph ..we are both level at this point.. he wasnt doing that great of speed either.. I zoomed up in my Dora (which has about the best zoom climb in the war) I was at 110% with WEP on.. engine was cool and sounding great... I leveled off.. accelerated (which agian dora has about the best level acceleration of the war. top 2 or 3 planes) zoomed again .. I did this to like 7000 meters... you know what.. that thing (think it was a Q1 or 10) was tugging line right behind me.. I couldnt snap over at all for fear of getting slow and sitting like a duck..he was THAT close... I had to split S and do about 970 kph out of there.. talk about an ego basher... P39 is the new hurri ....lag was good too.. everybody sitting around 100-200 at most . I can tell you more stories of encountering P39 as well.. the only good thing they are delicate.. IF you can get nose on it and get a shot

call me a troll.. I dont care.. flame me I dont care..dont think you counter-point me when I dont respond.. I hate flame wars

Test the P-39's speed and climb and post the tracks.

Do it in no cockpit mode.

Then complain.

Otherwise you are just another guy who got shot down.

The P-39 was so good it was hated by the pilots of the USAAC /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

They even made up a Song for it... they just used Oh my Darling Climentine and changed the Lyrics around to:

Fare Thee Well, my '39

In the cockpit of the Cobra

Trying hard to reach the line

But alas my engine faltered

Fare thee well my 39.

Oh my darling, oh my darling

Oh my darling, 39

You are lost, and gone forever

Fare thee well my 39

When you're spinning very flatly

And you've got a worried mind

That's all brother, hit the jumpsack

Fond farewell, my 39

All the black hats down in Congress

They just sign the dotted line

They are lucky they just bought it

They don't fly the 39.

I dunno... I think the elevator authority should be more sensitive

You may have something here.

I did test w/ P-39N1 (100% fuel, 100% power 230IAS)

Climb to 6100m

Object viewer: 8:30
I got: 6:45

So not only climbs too fast, but by a lot. No wonder it caught you in the zoom climb. I was wondering why so many ppl were flying the P-39 online...

Salute Fennec

Glad to hear of your test.

Now test the rollrate. It seems to fast to me.

After that suggest you check the Brewster. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Well I just like to play this great game. But when reading your posts about how one airplain doesn't have real characteristic, and other is ├╝ber ... What are your instruments? How can you really tell? How fast is the wind, and in which direction is blowing. At what angle are you climbing? Is it hot outside or is winter. Are you beside hill or mountain and what about lifting power there...

I'll just keep on flying. When I'm shot down, was it becaouse his plane is overmodeled? I know it's me, who could fly better. When I shot someone, well a bit of me an a bit of luck...

My crystal ball says the P-39 rolls too fast by, oh lets just say... 10 BILLION percent. Muhuhaha.

As for the Brewster, the FM is based on a can of Molson Canadian. As you would guess, the turn rate is far too slow, but the roll is wayyyy overmodelled.

BTW, I just use basic settings (100% fuel and standard day, no wind). I use object viewer numbers to compare, which although probably not correct, were provided with the game. I don't bother pointing out anything less than +/-10 percent off, because any test is not perfect.

If you get shot down and whine about overmodelledness, I would probably test that too. If proven right, you've given constructive criticism. If wrong, you're a noob.

But you're right, it is probably better just to enjoy the game and exploit/suffer from the inconsistancies rather than submit dozens of bug reports. But then, it would also be nice if the FMs were at least close to authentic.

P39 is far too stable, back in Il2 it would stall left and right, like the FW, now it never stalls.

Post a track? yeah right, look for yourself.

the Brewster should actually be faster than a few planes in FB ( Hurricane , I-153 , I-16 )

its a little more stable & seems to turn a little better but it has an insane roll rate

I hear people comin here and cry how it stalls to easily. Some cry how it never stalls. Some say it's too fast, others say the nose is glass. It's too hot. No, it's too cold.

Well, I've never actually flown one, so who am I to judge? All I know is I can figure out which planes I like and which I don't. Right now I'm likin the P-39 and I'm perfectly happy with that.
