BUT somehow it really improves already terrific performance from Tract IR2 & it doesn't look half as silly as having to wear a little flashlight taped to my forehead!!!

Just stick the reflectors to the end of your boom mic, it is more comfortable, more adjustable and looks much less "dorky".

Use a cluster of four stickers.

I don't use a boom mic , and I don't wear a dot on my forehead .

What I meant was that the reflectors way out on the bill of the hat really seem to increase the TR2 effectiveness...really ! Maybe its just the distance away from my forehead..
Now can someone give me the lowdown ( starting from scratch ) on the microphone purchase, install & effectiveness in on line play - I've played Il-2 forever but have no gen on microphone- Help!?

Actually, the farther the reflective material is from your head, the more sensitive TR gets. I prefer the dot as close to my head as possible - this way I can have some lateral movement without affecting things as much, or having to create a huge deadzone.

Get the Senhauser (sp?) for about $70 as I hear it is the best for the money.

Then take out the lenses. I used to use an old pair of polarized fishing glasses. Well I still do but lenses are out now. I got a new keyboard and its black, I wasn't able to see the keys and in a dark room. To bad too because they actually made the colors more vibrant.

As far as your microphone goes a cheap set of labteck stero headphones with a mic work perfect. My set is nearly 2 years old. You can get them for any where around $15.00 to $25.00 US. When using comms online it is more efeective too wear a headset than use a boom mice and run external speakers. If you run external speakers and a boom mic your wingman will hear all your game noises and other noises in your house while trying to pic out you saying Help get him off my six!!!!! or any other useful phrase. If you have to repeat yourself so he can understand you, it might be too late already.

Say T_O_A_D I'm still using your deadzone profile. Picked up styrofoam balls and an alligator clip today but after visiting two stores for reflector tape it's back to the drawing board. Where can a guy buy the tape? I tried a major auto supply store and a building supply store already. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Go to your local sign shop and ask for some reflective white vinyl. You wont need much so they may just hack you off a piece if you're lucky.

Get a 7yr or 9yr vinyl if you can cause it's a bit thinner and a little easier to conform around your *ahem* ball.

I have a sign shop so I have an endless supply but I'm only on my 8th dot that came with my first TIR1 about a year ago.

Good luck!

TY for the tip. I've got 8 overlapping dots on the end of a boom mike but it sometimes gets disoriented ... or maybe it's me http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Do you live near any mechanic shops? If so look for the Snap On truck or one of the other tool venders. We use this type of tape for infared Tachs Its called reflective pickup tape. Also check your PT.

I own 'the hat' - it rocks.

Nicely done. Considering the looks my 10 year old son's friends would give me when I answered the door with dots all over my head - the hat is great.

Seems to track well too.

Now we just need all flight sims ever created to support Trackir http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
