Oh dear. Please don't shoot the messenger. I suppose it's too obvious to ask if you unplugged your TrackIR befor euninstalling and then installing?

im not blaming you!! im blaming the driver ive would have downloaded it anyway.
And yes i toke the tir out before uninstalling the old driver and hade it out during the new install also and now it dosent work tried it on the 2 computers i have and it dosent work anymore.the other computer was tested with 3.03 driver.

After talking to the tir and trhreating it with spanking it worked...
The cord had got stuck some how and now it works, the new driver is a approwment over the old one theres some new inbuilt profiles for il2+aces but i found it too fast and still stick with my old ones. Inproved range and traking is what i have discovered with the new driver i can now sit back at my desk thats nice.
Please dont look at my other postings saying it dosent work.. cause it does YEAHH

Well, since the cat is out of the bag now...

There is a new feature unlocked in the drivers for TIR2 as well as TIR3 you'll notice called camera threshold which can help you filter out daylight or reflections. Very cool feature!

Also, the smoothing algorithm has been enhanced to offer greater precision with less lag. The only side effect is that your existing profiles might seem a bit "faster" or more sensitive but it's just a matter of readjusting your speed for each edit point.

Does this support the original trackIR? Any benefit in using it with the old unit?

Is it just me or does the new driver give you more accuracy ?
Let me explain .
I don't mean that it makes you shoot better , I mean that it tracks WAY better and is WAY smoother than the previous driver .
I woke up today , saw this new driver post , and went on over to the Natural Point site and downloaded the new driver .
Installed it .
Fired up FB with a favorite Uberdemon mission . The one where I escort Stukas in a Bf-109F4 .
I kicked butt !!
Two P-38s and two P-40s fell to my guns . All this with limited ammo !
Me thinks this new driver ROCKS !!!!!!

Phalcon51: You should still see an improvement in accuracy due to the new smoothing algorithm even with a TIR1. Just to note for those of you that want to use the older algorithm it can be switched back in the registry. The TIR1 does not have the hardware necessary for using the Camera Threshold feature however.

Sturmtrooper: That's a perfect illustration of why more accuracy and framerate, hence the new TIR3pro is better. Sometimes that little extra makes all the difference in the world. I equate this to playing FPS games competitively where you must have over 60fps consistantly to be able to shoot and acquire targets as accurately as possible. Framerate is everything and having a USB mouse (120hz) or PS2 mouse (up to 200hz using PS2rate) makes all the difference in the world over a 60hz mouse.

Hey PriK,
How do you know the speed of USB mouse. And is it the same for all brands ?

TIA.

Rubbish naturalpoint drivers!!!

I tried 'em and my TrackIR wasn't recognised - it showed up as "USB Device found"

It's exactly what happened when I first got TrackIR - I had to reinstall XP then and I'm not prepared to do that again!

Extreme One, do try again as there are reports on SimHQ of TrackIR1 working better with these drivers. Did the new drivers ask you to strip any old registry entries? If so, make sure you rid the registry of these.

Good luck mate, perhaps you'd like to buy my TrackIR2 off of me when the TrackIR3Pro comes out? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Annoyed as I am about this rapid hardware update, I can't see that I'll be able to resist buying the new kit!

Extreme One, don't panic, that issue is easy to to fix. Just go to Hardware in the Device Manager, and look for your TrackIR under USB devices. You will notice that it is marked with a yellow exclamation mark. Right-click on it and choose remove. Then reboot, you will see that it's detected as a new device, and the new drivers will install automatically.

OK I'll try it (5th time lucky 'eh?) again.

The thing is I really don't think it'll work cos in Device Manager the thing shows up as "USB Device" and not "Naturalpoint Tracker" (or whatever)

I'm no PC noob either (no offence to any of you offering suggestions) so I have followed the instructions TO THE LETTER (and tried my own variations to attempt a fix) but I do like the sound of the new drivers so I'll probably have another go tonight.

Wish me luck...

Cheers Alex - please do get in touch with me if you upgrade to TrackIR3Pro - BTW what drivers were you running with TrackIR2 before the latest update? (I had the 3.03 drivers install OK but they caused a lag picking-up my TrackIR1 so I'm using the 2.12Beta drivers)
