I'm going in the North http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I will stay in the forest with the tent... and swim/dive in the cold water. About such vacation I was dreaming last 4 years, when I was there the last time for just couple of days during weekend.
Its in the PSKOV city area - one of the most fresh and clean areas of the european part of Russia. I take with me my wife and son of 1 year and 3 month age. It will be his first such trial http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif (however for me the first one such trip was in 9 month age)
However girls there will be also http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Waldo Pepper needs to recheck his math for further results having only shown part of the equation....Yet lets put it into story question format....

Men convince Women to go up North, Intended results, Nipply Women needing to be warmed up. Women go up North, become nipply, need to be warmed up so try to cuddle to get warm. Women cuddle with men to get warm soon discovering "the cold affects the men too conversely"......How many women are left discovering this?

Men = A
Women = B
* = Warm nipply state
^ = cold nipply state

A(8=====> ) + B*/Up north =
A(8=> ) + B^/Up North =
A(8=> ) = -B*/^/Up North =
A/Up North < B*/Down South =
A/Up North http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif
-as-
B* + New A(8=======> )/Down South = Fun http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

As always, a thread about Oleg turns into this, naturally. Forgot name, but I read a book written by a White Russian civil war aviator flying Neiuport 11 against the Bolsheviks, and he lands in Siberia in the winter and he goes inside and looks at him~Self and he is gone missing, *poof* nothing (until he warms up again by the fire).

I have two questions/requests for The 1C Team.

-Why the 109s haven't ejecting brasses when firing,like some nose-gun-mounted Yak?

And,moreover

-Why the K4 hasn't the small doors for the tailwheel,like the P51,have a look at it:

http://www.tamiyamodelmagazine.com/images/Gallery/109/109e.jpg

In the game,the tailwheel simply goes into fuselage,without any modelled littledoors unlike P51...http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

I hope it will be corrected,although i know this is a really minor issue...http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Great news, thanks for the update.

I wish we could alter Realistic Mode a little.
The S key should be disabled so we dont have any idea what is coming at us from the other side. Realistic Mode should also disable the Print Screen button.

The print screen button should only work when Watching a track.

Or the host should be able to enable/disable record track, screen print and S key.

I cant see how these adjustments would be negative on the offline or online mode.

As a Cold water freediver my experience is such that i have no need to even begin to try to counter LB's assertions regarding the impact of cold water.

She is clearly working off an hypothesis based on very little experiential data.

Moreover the impact of wetsuits has been entirely ignored.

overall the patch is excellent.

there is one small problem. German planes are all able to do bat turns with trim now and are all one shot kill planes.

this may be realistic but so were american planes. in game american planes need to sit on a six foreever and the game has become completely unbalanced if using historical american vs german planesets.

i know youve seen this and noted it and hopefully there will be some sort of balance in the next patch as it used to be.

now all everyone wants to fly if they want to win is german in piton servers with historical planesets.

things seemed pretty much in balance before ....i would think with more accurate weight feeling in planes and more accurate zoom climbs the american planes would be more favored but now they cant even compete with top notch online pilots vs mediocre german pilots in servers.

again i am not whining . i love the game. i love the variety and am thankful to oleg for providing this for us. but ive also seen hyper lobby shrink from 700 to 900 pilots on weekends down to 200 online pilots with this new patch.

ALMOST EVERYONE has quit flying this game due to last patch

i do fly on realistic settings.

these are things ive been noticing. i do not have a problem switching to german and flying german planes in piton servers.

BUT and a big BUT is that 50cal armed planes should be devastating out to 300 yds and at 100 yds they should rip thousands of holes in planes and its just not happening.

youve got to hang on a bogey and literally pour lead through their planes forever.

there is no longer a balance. last patch there were no issues. why are there issues now?

mustangs are mushy non turning wallowing pigs now. combine that with tight crisp turning fws and 109s and add to it the 50cal problem that you need to sit on a six for ten seconds at ten feet distant it becomes very difficult for an american plane to get any kill online.

you may pepper five german planes not bringing one down and ten minutes later you get shot down and all five german planes go land and you get nothing.

but the germans go around and blow up everything in a couple rounds single burst.

again its play balance for a game were talking about. its not working.

i mean if you fly american you have to go get a few lucky rounds into a german plane then run hard back to base and wait for the enemy to land. thats ludacris.

and not to mention that all german planes dive as well as a jug or close enough in game as to not help out the jug then you start seeing a pattern.

anyone that disagrees with this flys just german planes. if you want to refute this go fly american planes in WC for an entire week.

dont just post a couple of anecdotes of getting destroyed by a jug.

im talking about overall and everyday. and if the german flyers havent noticed the difference they arent playing this game a lot.

and this is not in pit off. in pit off everything is different as you can time long range deflection shots over and over.

There are alot of problems with the P51 flight model. But no matter what we write or prove nothing will change. If there is no prblem then how come a B25 can out turn and out manuver this plane. FM programming. I am not sure why Oleg and team do not want to model this fine aircraft correctly but I am sure glad that the real P51 in real life does not perform like this one does in the game otherwise I would be dead already.
1. The P51 does not loose every bit of energy halfway through a turn. Maybe only about 15% to 20% at the most.
2. Fly spit or Yak and go into a fast dive and then pull up. Notice how lenient the black out feature is. Now go into a dive with the P51 and instant blackout.
3. Maximum speed of P51 437 @ 25k. Spitfire is only 355 but the spit can outrun it.

The list goes on and on but like I said it does not matter. Oleg does not seem to like this plane so what you have is what you have instead of a correctly modeled airplane. Even if this was the most advanced plane of its time and the performance on it was far better than anyother during the time, Oleg does not like it and he will model it the way he wants to even if it is not correct.
It is a shame that the Russians and the Luftwaf have planes that they can fly and be proud of in this game but us American flyers have dead weight. It is a shame that the US gets represented the way it does in this game and the only reason Oleg even sent this product to the US is to make money. I just wish he would represent things correctly.

By the way, I am not going to throw up a bunch of specs and stuff to prove it. Let me just say that I speak from knowing.

By the way, one thing I can say, the guns are perfect for strength right now. Thank you for that Oleg.

"...this was the most advanced plane of its time and the performance on it was far better than any other during the time..."

Another victim of traditional common-place aeronautical literature.

P-51 is terribly good, yes. Its performance tho, dropped quite a lot in some conditions of heighth and speed. It's overall specs were really good, yes, but far from converting it into "the most advanced plane of its time" in service(¿262?), nor having "a performance (...) far better than any other during the time". It simply was the best single-engined long-range fighter available for the USAAF air strategic program, manned by well trained fresh pilots. Many other planes in and out the USAAF could stand a comparison and even beat it, but were short-ranged, manned by rookie or too tired pilots at a late stage of war (Japan and Luftwaffe), or simply ignored by the common West public during the years of Cold War, when the myths of WW2 air war did grow (VVS late designs).

P-51 was one of the best fighters of the war, but not the superplane many have been led to believe by air war mythology.

You don't need 8 hours to shoot down a 109.
45 minutes is plenty.

You can have all the range you want but,if
you haven't got the handling it isen't worth

What a load of **** all this is " I read a book once and it said", " I fly in real life and I know".

Geez these aircraft flew 60 years ago and most everything ever written had a slant one way or the other. Most pilots had only quick violent and panic filled experiences, to relate.

The only way we will ever know for sure is a time machine to take us back and perform an extensive 3 year study of all the factors involved in airial combat at the time.

And if I happen to be a 5 hour flight away from you, your Spit is worthless as a fighter

"handling" is not the end all and be all of a fighter. No virtual pilot has to actually sit in a Spit cockpit. I wish folks would stop and consider that these planes aren't some dreamt-up fantasy aircraft, and that it's quite possible to find out the pros and cons of the actual aircraft

It also blows me away that virtual pilots fly a sim for a couple years and decided that the most manueverable aircraft is best. It just isn't so, and flat turn rate at best corner speed also isn't the definition of 'handling'

Say what? So you're saying all the time spent patrolling, flying escort to and from a target, ferrying aircraft and fighter sweeps was but a miniscule part of their flying? I submit that the combat comprised but a fraction of their total logged hours. Quick? Yes. Violent? Most certainly. Panic filled? I doubt it, at least not by the ones survived to write about it. Readers like exciting accounts of combat and close calls, not boring, routine and uneventful flights. Don't think that was the sum total of their experience in an airplane.

First off I would like to thank Oleg and his teams for all the dedication and work they have put into a game that is hands and feet over the competition.

Second, I can only sigh at the people who are upset. All I can say to them is, "glass half full". I started in 3.04m and its funny how those telling the whinners to shut up are now the whinners. The game is what the game is and that is GREAT. Have you ever wondered at how much work it is to make all those tanks and cars look cool? How they make a plane fly in a world without natural physics? (Snickers about old spit jokes) Have you ever just flown and watched all of the things that your plane does? Flaps, thinga-ma-jigs, do-hickeys and wingdings? Ever watched the ship guns move and fire with blast? And I won't even start at how cool the dmg modeling is.

Common guys fly, have fun, I'm sure if there are problems they will be addressed. Just have to have a bit of faith. With a splash of patients.

Great Oleg!

First of all I would like to finally congratulate your game, I did not know how superb it was before I got to know it better. At first , because I am a pilot in real life, I was looking at it with prejudice and skepticism but all went into pure admiration and awe as soon as a got used with it. Its power of immersion and realism is more than impressive, it is trully a milestone in computing €" I do not agree with giving IL2 to real pilots of WWII to evaluate or comment, most of those great folks (now very old people) are not used to computing and would get the same first wrong impression as I had, and thus make injustice on their evaluation.

Well, Respectfully... (You more than deserve it's an awesome game!!!) let me present a humble but important suggestions to enhance it. They are mostly simple ideas and suggestions that would be of much importance to me and my friends. They seem to be easy to code/implement and would make a big difference in immersion gaming.

1) Having the ability to REARMING AND REFUELING the plane when landing on a carrier or friendly airbase. It could be done through a menu like in BRIEF and after choosing options one desire it would resume to mission with an animation (animated) of ground crew externally servicing the plane. The animation crew would be the only hard work on code, but it would do to (with less glamour though) to only be able to access REARM/REFUEL menu and returning to mission armed to fight again€¦ and that as I understand could be made with very little coding.

Imagine the possibilities - IT WOULD BE GREAT!!!! Picture yourself taking off from a Carrier for a bombing mission just to find fighters nearby your take off point. Then having to drop you ordnance to engage the fighters and after downing them you still can land rearm/refuel and continue mission (as in real life). Or you can do multiple attacks from a nearby target just landing and rearming€¦

I think this it would be a MUST in a new patch or in BOB - and it is so simple to do (even more comparing to all the possibilities already done in such a great game like IL2).

2) There is a minor bug concerning carrier plane taxing. I noticed that when the carrier is moving the
plane even if stopped (without chocks) skids many time felling into the water or hitting objects and
getting damaged. In real life on Carriers as you know there are a bunch of guys in the crew to help like signal officers and other creatures of the like. They would help pilots with their taxing duties due to your limited
internal view - you can't see the edges very well! So I propose that after landed and stopped in a carrier,
in any point of it, one could hit a key on the keyboard and the plane would automatically go to take off
position. To make it better could have an animation crew (like the gunners are now) go to push by hand
the plane to the take off position - THAT WOULD BE REALLY GREAT!!!

3) Would be good to be able to attach cameras to moving objects (like bombs, rockets , planes). It would help us to improve gunnery , dive bombing , etc.

4) Would be good to see the smoke of large fire of bombed areas or great downed planes (full of gasoline) to go up very high (up to thousand meters like some large forest fires in real life) as well as to improve the bomb damage effect to landscape like better impact holes (craters)

IL2 already is a milestone in game computing, but with such little ideas (many of them so easy to implement) the game would be more immersive and realistic as well as fun to play.

I think many of us loyal customers like me are sharing these ideas, so thanks in advance and please please please.

i agree with you totally Alexandre, but im afriad we might have to wait afew years for that, coz the amount of system resources it would use would be tremendous, im sure in the not to distant future your ideas will be possible, but for online games on mid range systems, it would drain the graphics card for one, even with online mode. i was a fan of all these planes when i was a kid, and when i got my pc few years ago, it came with the IL-2, and i didn't play it for few months, then when i did i was like wow, im 25 and my dreams of a child come to life lol. so thanks Oleg and crew, the future with this game is something to look forward to. as to all the whiners, have you ever flown these planes?, have you ever programmed a game like this?, if the answers no, then you know nothing. so don't comment, alot of hard work and time has gone into this sim, and its patches are free!

Regarding the Mustang. I've been playing IL2/FB/AEP/PK since they came out. I too thought the P-51 was undermodelled at first, and since we in the west really knew so little about Soviet planes, it seemed that the Russian planes in general were overmodelled, The Fw190 has also undergone a lot of revision in this game. But the more I've read, I suspect the actual flight model of the P51 is pretty good. There were a lot of very capable piston engined fighters at the end of WW2 (P51, P47, Spit, Tempest, Corsair Fw190D, Yak3, La7, Ki-84, Mc205, etc.) The real reason the P-51 seems to stand out is because of American ignorance of the eastern front, coupled with the fact that its axis enemies were being generally flown by poorly-trained pilots and were rarely capable of full performance due to bad fuel, poor workmanship, and other problems.

I do wonder about the US .50 cals however. These are pretty damm big machine guns and there are 6 to 8 of them. They should pack a greater whallop than they do in this game. A lot of complaints about the P51's "flight model"would disappear if you guns would shoot something down.
