Surprised noones posted about this already, being 20 to 12 - everyone else is probably too pissed to type!. January 26, 1788 Captain Arthur Phillip arrived in Down Under and set up the colony of New South Wales (still is a bit of a bloody colony if you ask me http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif). So every Jan 26 we get together to celebrate being Aussie!

Cheers!

Yep, sure do!

Just got back from the Perth Sky Show (big firework display). Good evening out, even with the hot weather and the crowds. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

G'day All,

Aussie Day was better than usual as we absolutely murdered the poms at one day cricket in my home town (Adelaide). All out for 110 is pretty dismal http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
I think we sent the team physio & buss drivers in to get the win http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Cheers,
The Toasted One.

Everybody celebrates the arrival of te English colonists to a land proclaimed as "Terra Nullius"( no one living there) except for the Koori tribes already living here for up to 60,000 years yet up here at Byron Bay they have a welcome to country ceremony and displays of local indigenous culture to inform the westerners of the diversity and significance of a culture often overlooked. Bloody good idea to broaden our perceptions of this great country.

My god we're **** at cricket!

I went out for Australia Day this evening - there were no Aussies. All behind the bar I guess :P

That'll be right! If we're not drinking it ourselves, then we're behind the bar serving it to others to drink! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

In the last couple of decades, I've seen a growing awareness of indigenous history and culture, which is a good thing. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
