No. The engine is completely different, I'm afraid.

"...on the consoles"

Sounds like such a derogatory term. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

I'll pass on the graphics, but I would like an accurate 3D model of the Hawk 87, The current P40E and M are two of the worst models in the sim.

Oh, and while "they" are at it, how about a P40N. The largest production version of the P40 series, with the best performance.

Both in the pipes at SAS. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I don't think they are too far out, apart from the dihedral. The chin of the radiator is also slightly more pronounced, at least, compared to this rendition.
I've seen RC models further off, with the gun ports on the inside of the landing gear. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Are you talking about Wings of Prey, or 1946? Because I'm pretty sure ElAurens is talking about 1946.

i was talking Il2.
I've seen the many comparisons and it just seems like the extent of the errors depends on the drawing you are comparing it to.
You have to think even a line drawing can have errors.

I posted more of this skin on the Paint schemes forum.

I don't know, I mean, the line drawings we both posted look fairly similar. The model does not.

I think the line drawings are a bit different, but what shows a greater difference from the gaming 3d model is the reference point at which you line them up.

If you a line them from the nose you can see its actually the canopy that appears to be out. If you a line them from the canopy then it looks more like the example you presented.

Not that this says much because the nature of a 3d rendering.

course a photo is probably ideal..

over any drawing.

Yeah, I've been missing the P-40N too, along with Ki-61 TEI, which was also the most produced Hien.

Our in game Hawk87s are horrible.

The radiator inlet is totally wrong, the dihedral is totally wrong, the vertical stabilizer is wrong, the "razor back" from the canopy to the fin is wrong, the spinner is wrong, and the cockpit is full of errors.

What SAS does is of no consequence as I am drifting away from mods. Once we can have Zuti in an official patch then the reasons for modded versions, and the bickering and politcal back stabbing in that "community" will have no purpose to me.

Of course when SOW:BoB hits the shelves, then IL2 will be a memory collecting dust on my hard drive.

I feel somewhat the same, actually. Using the mods is more of a necessity than a choice ATM, and there are only a select few that I really like.

I think you're right Bill. Nevertheless the model does badly need correction.

awesome, its nice to know you guys have stepped forward and volunteered to work on this.
When do you think it will be finished?

Haha, I could if you want, I've done 3d work before. VH-Rock's already got dibs on it, though, so tough luck.

For me the 3d work is easy, its getting it converted for the game that's a headache.

I think it took me in all about 10 minutes to fix the wings. It's just that there is close to 20 meshes for each wing to then convert into the game.
If a handful of people each took on a handful of meshes then it would be cake to fix.
