Does anybody know the different types of transportation (besides walking) that Ezio can use to travel from destination to destination? I've heard of a few but I don't think they've bee confirmed so I want to see what everybody says http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think they've allowed us to ride our horses into Cities this time, which will be awesome. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

i read on the Screenshot thread that the picture of Ezio horse riding is a Scripted mission and you can't ride in a town/city. This may not be sure and i have nothing to back me up such as a link. But if you really wanna know search screen shot thread it's around 25+ maybe in the 30's maybe in the 40's i don't know exactly but if ur going to serarch good luck..

No they didn't, what are you talking about? There are screenshots of it and I haven't read or heard anything about that, so bring us proof.

The 'Rome is a scripted mission' is a theory by a person on the thread in question and was never officially confirmed, to my knowledge. It was mentioned in a "Rome hasn't had much info leaked about it, I hope it's not scripted" sort of way.

But I do know for sure that it's been mentioned once or twice on a couple of interviews that you can't ride your horse into the city.

In fact, in some demos of AC1, they could enter the cities with a horse, but they took this feature out (like the crossbow http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif ). Maybe it's the same thing here, there's picture of horseback riding in a city, but maybe we won't be able to do this in the game.

Why would you need to ride your horse in a city anyway?

Don't think Flying Machine can be used to just fly randomly around cityes,

Only for some missions.

I see transportation by horse carriage is mentioned to but does anyone know if this is just a scripted mission? I think I heard some where from a legitimate source that you can use the carriage to transport people for money but your always going to get chased by the guards to your destination. Has anyone else heard this too? Oh & does anyone know if other people will be traveling on horse while riding from city to city or will it just be the player traveling on horseback like the first Assassins Creed?

NuclearFuss

You can still ride horseback from city to city, but there's a lot more to do in the countryside e.g. side missions, exploring smaller towns and random things like being pick-pocketed (not on horseback obviously). There is at least one mission where you transport someone in a carriage, but you can still travel in them normally. I don't think anyone knows whether you can pick up random people and take them.

Actually, it's probably a bridge. How would a horse get on a city wall? And that wheelbarrow has no business up one as well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Cornik22
11-01-2009, 05:18 PM
Right, a bridge above the whole city http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif Seriousy, it's the wall surrounding the city. Take a look at the other Rome picture and you will see that the pattern matches http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Making these walls unreachable in the first game doesn´t mean that it will happen again in the second.

El_Sjietah
11-02-2009, 09:10 AM
Still makes no sense to have a horse up there.

caswallawn_2k7
11-02-2009, 09:18 AM
the guards had to have a way up to the wall, it is very possible this access point is large enough for a horse, more so since they seem to be doing work on the wall's so would probably be using horses on the wall's to move materials.

El_Sjietah
11-02-2009, 09:48 AM
Huge walls like these were usually only accessable by ladders or stairs. Materials and the likes were transported up there by cranes. Building a ramp just so you can get a horse up there and the size of said ramp would be ridiculous. Horses don't handle steep surfaces too well, so you'd have to have a ramp stretching out for 3-5 times the wall's height. Try building that in a crowded city like Rome.

caswallawn_2k7
11-02-2009, 11:21 AM
look in the back drop, from the direction Ezio is running there is a large hill inside the wall making a path way between the 2 points would be fairly easy.

Atmon
11-02-2009, 11:28 AM
In the game you will be able to walk, use a horse or a boat for transportation.

And yes the screenshot on the thread is from a mission in Rome, where you can ride on protection walls. It doesn't mean that you cannot use horses in other situation. We have already stated that http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

The flying machine or the carriage are specifically use in mission, and are not meant to be use as a way to roam around.

Bah, it still makes no sense to have horses on walls though.

11-02-2009, 02:38 PM
Well as you can see there is also a carriage and lots of woods on those walls, and they didn't climb by themselves http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Not mentioning that the sequence is really cool to play http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

El_Sjietah
11-02-2009, 02:41 PM

I can imagine the wood and the hay there, but a horse and a carriage? No way.

also on the ramp being too long and a lack of space have you never thought they could run parallel to the wall meaning they are only coming off the wall maybe a road's width and the assumption that they only used ladders and stair cases to get on the wall is quite bad as well considering if the city was to come under siege they would struggle to mobilise high numbers of archers/troops to the walls.

El_Sjietah
11-02-2009, 04:57 PM
Not at all. Stairs can be steeper at the same capacity as slopes. Plus the added benefit that they can be placed within towers and the likes. Speaking of towers, how would a horse get past one of those?
And cranes are a lot more efficient than ramps, so it'd make no sense to use a ramp instead.

Not doubting that that screenshot is from a wall anymore btw, it's just... weird.

on a wall that is made as wide it is designed to be used as a path way to a large number of troop's so if they have to cram in to get through a tower it defeats the object of such a wide road, the towers are normally built off centre to allow the main road to still be used or in the small minority were the towers were built directly on top of the wall they would have large arches built in to allow troops and other things through.
