I just finished to read the review of the ATI 4870 X2 at tom´s harware, and guess what?
It´s 25 -51 % faster than a GTX 280 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
Probably nvidia will not be able to respond with a GTX 280 X2 because of consumption and price issues.
That´s war babe!

A much needed victory for AMD for sure!

well , maybe Il2 recognizes this card as a single chip, because the two GPU are in a same board, not in crossfire mode?
I´m not sure about that, maybe somebody here could help us on this?

This card shows up as one card, it should have some benefit as this game does show benefits from crossfire setups.

I have a 7950 GX2 and I see an improvement over running just one card..

AMD/ATI is bleeding money. Financially its a train wreck. NVDIA posts profits year after year. I dont think iL2 is really that graphically demanding of a game to warrent a crossfire or sli setup.

The same thing as it does with my 3870 X2...runs the game great!

Well, SimHQ has it confirmed: Il2 1946 does not scale at all with 4870 X2.The fps are solid but identical to the 4870 in CF or a single 4870.
But Call of duty 4 , a modern game, shows almost 100% gains in fps.
Probably SOW will scale better using SLI or CF.

So,you actually DO run faster with two legs than with one.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Actually, AMD is starting to recover financially and nvidia posted a HUGE loss for Q2 this year.

That's good news Urufu. I still have some ATI/AMD stock.

That was true half a year ago but not anymore. AMD has received some investment capital, they have posted better gains in the last few months than previously, and things are starting to look up at AMD. They had some serious problems but they are doing alright again.

nVidia has taken a massive hit in the last few months. There is even talk of Intel or AMD buying up nVidia. That would probably be stupid for either party but its talk nonetheless.

Last quarter for nvidia was the first in 4-5 years for a loss. they took the hit for the faulty chips for the notebooks. Just a blip on the radar. AMD hasnt made money for YEARS.

As if nVidia doesn't have enough problems. It seems their laptop G84 G86 display cards are defective.

Remains to be seen how widespread. Dell issued a BIOS update to increase fan spead.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. Could be an interesting time. I see BoB being delayed six months because of this. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif
