The current medals in IL-2 FB/AEP/PF are the same for both for the Royal Air Force and the Fleet Air Arm. Although some medals were awarded to both services there are others that were totally distinct. I was also unhappy about the award of campaign medals and the George Cross in the default setup. Nobody has ever won both the George and Victoria Crosses, although it is possible to do so, and the award of the €˜39-€˜45 campaign medal after receiving the VC seemed a trifle disappointing. I wanted to have medals that were awarded purely for gallantry rather than for campaigns.

I have also always been intrigued by people getting a €˜Mention in Dispatches€. It seems so terribly British, so I was glad to be able to put it in my awards lists.

After doing some research I have come up with new and separate lists for the RAF and FAA. I have tried to make the awards relevant to the in-game ranks, thus these medals were, in the main, awarded to officers.

RAF

0 Mention in Dispatches
1 Air Force Cross
2 Distinguished Flying Cross
3 Bar to the Distinguished Flying Cross
4 Distinguished Service Order
5 Bar to the Distinguished Service Order
6 Companion of the Order of the Bath
7 Victoria Cross

FAA

0 Mention in Dispatches
1 Distinguished Service Medal
2 Conspicuous Gallantry Medal
3 Distinguished Service Cross
4 Bar to the Distinguished Service Cross
5 Distinguished Service Order
6 Companion of the Order of the Bath
7 Victoria Cross

I have made a new collection of medal image files for all of these.

Make sure that you get the updated file; I managed to slip in a couple of mistakes in the first upload http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_redface.gif. I must have checked it a dozen times and they still crept in.

Cheers!

Excellent work! The "Mention in dispatches" is a nice touch.

Ow... And I read "New RAF & FAA meal packs available" when I saw the topic. 8)
