Hi
I've discovered that whenever a scramble is in effect and I have chosen to begin a mission in the air I invariably crash into the carrier in the first few seconds of the mission. Is there any way I can avoid this?
Thanks,
Gunnar

Can you explain with more details please.

On what alt do you start the mission?

My only scramble problem is with an offline campaign with a Hellcat.

You are sitting #2 (wingman to the flight leader) on a carrier deck, enemy aircraft are coming in from all sides, and your #1 just sits there.....engine idling, waiting for death.

Luckily, in the F6F I can take off before him while watching my left wing "blend" with his right wing. I slip by without a scratch to be left alone in the sky against the enemy, since #1, #3, and #4 were done in by a Kamikaze. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

The AI idle the engine for about 30 seconds. Which is probably an attempt at some realism (as the startup process is a bit more than just hitting a button)...but yes, you do get wiped out if the enemy appears.

But thats a mission design problem (or a DGEN problem). I've built and continue to build missions with scramble scenarios...they work.

I have noticed that on some carriers and with some planes, you can set up an AI flight of four to take off, and the number two will roll and take off before the flight leader does.
Maybe your fearless leader is waiting for you to get your crate off the deck so he can take off.

Nothing like your "fearless" leader letting you take "point". Great. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

I have experienced strafing in campaign missions numerous times.(I just hit refly and take off before anyone else next time I fly the mission).
However that my not be possible on the carrier deck, but maybe you can move your fighter just a little bit prior to enemy strafing/bombing run; it can help a lot and AI may choose other target to hit/strafe.

They most likely wont make a second strafing/bombing run, because of CV flak.http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
