in the 1st teaser it shows Altair killing 5 templars with his switchblade very stylishly. It'd be cool if you could fight with only your switchblade

Yeah that would be cool. I kinda doubt you could fight someone unless you take them completely by surprise or you had a sword as well and you could like block their attack with your sword then stab them in the neck with the switchblade.

i would not want to fight only w/ my swithblade
the fighting w/ the sword looks beast

It would be alot harder to fight only with the switch blade. You might have to run away a bit and pick off the guards one by one when they spread out by stocking them from the roof tops.
It would be pretty fun.

i think it will be interesting to see how you use weapons such as the sword and switchblade in combat cuz from what we know, they share the same button. so maybe hell have set combos where he switches between the two automatically???

Yeah, but where does the crossbow come into all of this? When will we be able to come up and shoot someone then stab another guy with your cross bow??

Thats what i wanna know, and, when will we be able to use the little throwing daggers on his chest, which will also be fricken fun! YEYA!http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

ScytheOfGrim

it would b cool if u could like dual-wield. Like, u hav the switchblade on ur right hand, n a sword in ur left. U block with the switchblade and while its blocking the guard's sword, you swing with ur sword, totally killin them http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/crackwhip.gif

ScytheOfGrim
07-03-2007, 10:28 AM
i think the other way around is more realistic, block with sword and strike with switchblade. dont ya think??

spazzoo1025
07-03-2007, 10:30 AM
i guess, just that if hes in a fighting stance (body facing to the right) then, you'll want the sword in ur left hand bc its got a longer reach

ScytheOfGrim
07-03-2007, 10:33 AM
what???????

i can tell you a skilled swordsman(altair)doesnt have to be on the right side to block properly. there are many ways of blocking an incoming blow to the opposite side of your defences.i mean, go watch star wars and you'll see, they block ANYTHING. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

spazzoo1025
07-03-2007, 10:43 AM
i know i know

just like id think either way ur facing u still wanna strike with a longer weapon, so you an keep the enemy back

ScytheOfGrim
07-03-2007, 10:45 AM
do you think altair will have a stance similar to the princes and combo???

i dont cuz he uses a much lighter blade than the prince and his weapons are all for agility.

thought i might ask and see what the public thought...

It's the other way around. The switchblade is on his left hand...

maybe the switch blade could be used in stealth attacks like dropping on an enemy or sneaking up on one or if your deuling a knight for a silent kill you could over power him with your switchblade and http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

If I had a switchbladi I would only use it in stealth-attacks, maybe if i didnt have anything better, like a sword in close combat

It might be tricky to block with the switch blade, I don't think it could withstand hard blows just like that, that's why you block with the sword, then go for it with either the sword, wristblade or both.

You're entirely correct. His switchblade would easily be destroyed/rendered useless if a sword were to strike it. It would logically make much more sense to parry with a sword, and to strike inward with the knife, seeing as how the person cannot defend him/herself.

The problem with the switchblade is that if you lunge at them to cover distance, you expose yourself to a quick strike before you regain your balance well enough to bring your sword around to block. But if you get close enough, such as closer than arm's length, your sword would be almost useless; the enemy could just lock their blade with yours and then, using his free hand, grab the hand with the switchblade and break your wrist and/or disable the switchblade. You'd have to get very fast, precise strikes to dual-wield effectively

blocking with the switchblade is the dumbest thing to do. in too manycases you would miss the opponents weapon(in this case a sword) and he would miss your hand alltogether or slice off your whole wrist.

In the videos he parry or dodges an incoming, and then will punch them or whatever. Sounds to reason that he could do that and then instead of punch them he could stab or slice with the switchblade right?

"Quick strike" with what may I ask? With his sword? Seeing as how I already covered you would need to parry with your own before "lunging in to cover distance." With his fist? Well, unless I'm mistaken, fist + knife + same time = scissor beats paper?

Have you ever tried to break someone's wrist using only one hand when they're jabbing inwards at you? Kind of hard to get into a wrist lock when your other hand is "locked" by his sword; remember: If my blade is locked with yours, we BOTH lose functionality with one hand. And if I decide that's the moment to "lunge" at the throat with a blade, he's going to have a tough time reacting seeing as how it will take him up to .2 seconds JUST to register a knife flashing at him.
