Occassionaly I have done this when fighting an AI plane.

I am chasing the plane, and it goes for altitude. I give chase and keep up with it, but do not close on it, only keep pace. If I break off the attack, then it will turn and it may get a shot at me, so I pursue.

Eventually, the AI plane reaches some ungodly altitude, nearing 10000m, then breaks, downward.

I chased a 109G6/AS in a Mustang the other day to around 9600m before he broke and I got him.

So what is the highest you have ever bothered to chase an AI plane?

this thread kinda reminds me of the "how high can u get your 'Komet' up to?" thread a while back... 1C forgot to model "Outter Space" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif

but back on topic.. 8-9k for me.. i somtimes get close enough to plink them in their shallow climb then they flick over and try to dive away... which they usually manage to do http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

he didn't model outer space...but the stars sure are pretty, and the ride back is alot quieter then the ride up.

The AI does an awesome job at it. I've spent up to 10+ minutes chasing him, then breaking off, and he goes into that dive where I get the brief second to fire a shot.

Never followed an AI up high but I did drag 9 CR42's to 10K+ meters once, in a Hurricane. They went home after they all started stalling out. Must have been pretty cold in those open cockpits!

Good hunting,

I fought an AI Ace 109 F4 at 5000m in a Hurricane (russian fieldmodel) and managed to evade for 20 minutes. (I didn't want to die in a head on wich aces can hit U at dotrange).
We eventually ended up on the deck and I survived by bailing out.

Online the 109F4 is behind a hurricane in 2 loops though.
It's like shooting cargoplanes.

Right, if you have the skill and the will, you can always out-turn the AI, or it will break off, and then you get on his tail. This is how you negate the AI's ability to defy physics in other flight modes.
