Well, I think that it has been awhile since anyone has done one of these threads. Also, we are so busy complaining about the problems with these forums, that we overlook one of its coolest features; That, being the use of the photo album. I would like to start a trend here. Try to keep your new threads IL2 related . . . even if vaguely, so that we don't give appearances of abusing the generous bandwith that Ubi pays for. (See? They aren't all that bad, now are they?)

So, to get things going here, since it is my suggestion, I would like to see the workspace where you folks play the game, specifically how you have your rig set up. Any personal artifacts that you may have lying around that decorate are welcome in your shots. And remember, don't be ashamed if your machine isn't the latest NASA supercomputer, and don't be afraid of embarassing anyone if it is, we still want to see it. Desktops, laptops, custom pits . . . doesn't matter. The important thing is just to see where you play.

Thanks for participating . . . as well as taking the time to upload, link or email the pics.

edit: I've decided to add your pics to my album, so that it will be a permanent part of this album, just in case you guys need to conserve your upload space. Let's just call it "our" album now -->-->-->--> To make this a bit easier, I am going to go out on a limb here. My email addy is tsisqua@charter.net , and you can just send the pics there. If you don't feel comfortable with strange Cherokee guys having your return address you can link the pics here in the comments, and I will copy them to the album, as I did for ausmondo. Also, if you don't have a camera, and want to just describe your setup, then that is just fine. Notice that Chuck_Older did it this way, and it was just as fun as having a pic.

edit: I was wondering what Oleg's personal pit looks like. I think that there may be some here who have seen it, but I wanted to issue a challenge to him: Oleg, send me a pic of your rig. We'd all love to see what the man who made us all a little "Mad" about IL2 flies in. Whadaya say?

Thanks Everyone.
Tsisqua

When I played VC, i made mp3's of my Darkness Album . . . its perfect for the period. (Please don't tell any of my friends that I am a Darkness fan. I would be picked on real bad.http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) My other choice of music was Buck Cherry. I especially love the song "Porn Star" for the movie studio levels. (Ok, my musical tastes aren't being fairly represented here, but we are talking about Vice City, not my students' recitals).

I have a friend playing San Andreas now on his PS2, but since my PC gaming began I left off with consoles forever. At least until a console can do what my PC can. I don't see that happening anytime soon, in spite of what Microsoft may be planning. (they are always plotting). The development of games has to take place on a computer at the moment, and nothing short of a computer cpu will really represent the best games well.

Any of you ever play Bloodrayne? I dl'ed and played the BR2 PC Demo, and now I am waiting on its release, but I hope that the finalized version is a bit harder, or at least more configurable in difficulty. Of course, the PS2 and X-Box version is already out http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif . I never played the original game, but I saw it for $10.00 at Sam Goody's, so I will probably have to get it.

Oh, and lets see your setups, if you have time and pics to link. Use the reply with quote buttons instead of the quick reply, and you will have the quick link option that appears over the textboxes in the regular threads. Play along with Tsisqua here. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Jagdgeschwader2,

Beautiful, mate! We seem to have a few similar tastes, but I am sure hoping now that you didn't see my post in the other thread where the RAF goggles were posted on ebay LOL. I'd seriously love to own them after my rich uncle gets out of the poorhouse.

Also, I love old desks that have been converted to use as workstations. I've looked at a few modern desks, but nothing that I have seen makes me want to switch from my antique.

Thanks
Tsisqua

p.s. I am going to add your pics to the album. I hope that's ok. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

That desk belonged to my parents and I can
remember playing under it with my friends
when I was just a kid. We used it for a fort.
It's made of solid oak and man is it heavy.
I hope I don't have to move it again for a
long while. There was a guy that had a Revi
for sale on e-Bay last week. Just for the heck
of it I put down $200.00 but later on it jumped
to $950.00 and the reserve was still not met.
I guess we need to win the lottery. I might
post a few more pics of my war room. I have
photos and aviation art covering every wall.
Although the last time I tried to photograph
that stuff the photos looked like ****. I'm
no photographer thats for sure! Add away on
the photos no copyright problems here lol.

"The Bearon " I love it man, that pict alone is worth the price of admission.

As much as it pains me to admit it after almost 3 years of owning PC's I can build my own gaming rig from the ground up and still have no idea how to go somewhere like PhotoBucket and upload a picture...Its a shame to because I think you would get a kick out of my "desk surgery" that was needed so I could fully engage the throttle on my X45. Couldn't find my coping saw that day but I had numerous drills on hand!

I don't have a camera here...

The only notable things are a desk that was the widest I could get back in the mid-90's, it's probably a yard wide, front to back (for the HUGE monitors from back then, I have an LCD now), and the 1925 Edesel B. Ford Trophy replica on top of my PC.

Tsisqua, i use an 'artic cooling vga silencer' in place of the stock hsf, these are cheap: 9 and very quiet, but they use an extra pci slot, and i use 'ati tool' to up the core and memory settings to stock xt, i havent flashed the bios or any thing like that. The beauty of 'ati tool' is you can up the core and memory for high end stuff and then drop it back if you are just net surfing etc, but if you are happy as you are with yours- you know the saying 'if it aint broke etc' o/clocking is risky!

Also, if your pics were linked, you could remove the links once you see that I have your images posted in the gallery. That would help alot as well.

Does it really make that much of an improvement?

I guess you have to make inspections
to be sure there are no leaks. I also
switched my fans to 120mm a huge

Once the system runs fine, it needs no maintenance. But before, you need some testruns without hardware inside. The installation of this watercooling system is a little bit difficult, but there are a lot of watercoolingsystems, that you can call "plug´n play". But don`t become addicted on it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif. But don`t buy a Kailon Silencer MK II!

Advantages of this cooling are:
Better Temps(full load 45?Celsiuis on my rig with 2400 MHz, I am german, don`t know Fahrenheit)
Silent(I only hear the Eheim waterpump and a little bit of the harddisk)
more Stylish than an aircooler(my opinion)

Disadvantages:
Expensive
Hard to transport(weight/size/possible leaks after collision)
Change of water after 1 1/2 - 2 years(but never forget watercooling additive)

...I become addicted(Thx @ Quaxhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)

Nice Set Jagdgeschwader2, but I think, that you need at least a Dualradi(esp. when its hot outside), when you cool CPU, GPU and Northbridge. Tripple is excellent for Overclocked Rigs.
You can combine most dual and tripple radis with external mounts. Looks nice and is more effective.

FI.Spitsfire, your pic is now permanently uploaded to the gallery. Thanks, Mate. I made a comment about the Ti4200 . . . I wish that my 9800 Pro 256 behaved itself as nicely as my Ti4200 did! My next video card upgrade (that should be in about a year) will be something from Nvidia as well. When my first 9800 Pro went bad, I used the Ti4200 as a backup, and even though I had to lower the graphics a tad, I had PF looking VERY nice, indeed!

Thanks for the pic, and for sharing your space with us http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

BTW, I see your post count is 33, and you haven't received Tsisqua's customary greeting:

Madsarmy,

I have some screenies of my new rig for you...I just posted this in another thread abouot watercooling... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I upgraded to an Athlon 3200+ on an Abit NF7-S mobo with 1gb of dual channel 400mhz RAM & a Radeon 9800 Pro Card. I got a 550 watt ps as well and the CPU was running @ about 130 degrees F. under load. The Video card was even hotter @ about 145 F.

I put the whole setup in this Koolance PC2 650 case and ordered a CPU block, a NB block & a VGA block.

link removed by b_b

I ran it for 2 days & had no leaks. I put it together & I have never been so nervous to fire up a new machine before. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

It runs great & it brought the CPU temp down to 93 degrees F. under full load with the fans cranked up and the VGA is running at about 98 F. That is a drop of about 25 degrees each! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Needless to say, I am happy with it so far & it runs much more stable now. They discontinued this particular case, but the newer ones have the same built in radiator system. Unless you crank the fans up to 3, it is almost silent.

Thanks for updating us, Jay. Great shots. Maybe one of the best pics that I have uploaded so far is the side shot of your new Koolance. I can see everything inside of it that you mentioned previously.

A great big thanks to you, my friend http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I only have the video card & a wireless moden to clutter it up! I even went to the extent of sheathing the wiring bundles with nylon wire wraps from http://www.cableorganizer.com/nylon/ to make them less visable. removed the molex connectors from the plugs & sealed it with shrink wrap tubing from Home Depot. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

It improves the airflow to the extent that I don't even have an intake fan, just 2 exhaust fans to pull air through, and they are low rpm and very quiet.

The only lights in the case are the little LCDs in the exhaust fan. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif I am pretty sure 3 LCDs shining into the exhaust stream don't add any heat to the case. The other red light is the MB activity LCD.

The light over the keyboard is so I can see the keys @ night with the lights turned down.
