Seriously. Throughout the game, Leonardo helps him any way he can. Hell, he even risks his own freedom for him - obviously he would've been imprisoned (or even excecuted) had the authorities found out that he's collaborating with "the assassin", who is no less that a wanted man. Convicted for killing the doge (sp?), no less.
And yet, for all that, what does Ezio give Leonardo in gratitude? Absolutely nada! He only comes to see him when he needs something from him. The Ahole doesn't even bother to ask Leonardo "how are you?" or "am I interrupting?" every time he comes for him in order for Leonardo to decipher a freaking codex page!
To top it all off, he even calls the flying machine ***A MILD SPOLER*** a piece of crap. What's up with that?

*Sigh* You also refuse to see that Leonardo gains alot of insight from the Codex pages. This to him is all the payment he requires... Also if you think about it Ezio's probally the only person crazy enough to test the flying machine... If anything Ezio helps Leonardo in more ways then you give him credit...

Also Leonardo is glad to help-out since helping Ezio helps free the people from Templar tyranny.

***MILD SPOILERS***

Near the start of the game, where Ezio's mother introduces us to Leonardo for the first time, he talks about how he feels there is something missing from his life and talks about a yearning to contribute in a more direct and practical way than he has been doing up until that point through his artwork. Helping Ezio provides him with an outlet for that desire.

This is why Leonardo asks Ezio to bring codex pages to him.

It's pretty obvious that he relishes the challenge from decoding the ciphers and, especially, from fixing the hidden blade and building the other modifications and extensions of that technology. The excitement in his voice is particularly evident when he talks about the designs for the hidden pistol. It certainly comes across that he builds that as much to satisfy his own curiosity, as to whether it can actually work, as he does out of any other motivation.

Why do you think we only see Leonardo's hands when he's solving the pages? Leonardo's back and all of Ezio are absent from the shot...very peculiar.

Aside from the freudien comments, albeit, they are peculiarly funny, Ezio is not a jerk. he may be arrogant at times, but not that. He is just a purpose driven individual with one thing on his mind, vengeance. Remember, he didn't put himself in this position, he was forced.

Well, it is actually speculated that Leonardo Da Vinci was actually homosexual.
