In my FMB idea thread I suggested emplaced infantry. The current pilot in water shots show kinda what I was thinking.

Make a foxhole or slit trench object (it would be a dark hole shape, but flat). Foxholes would be several holes in a loose line. Each hole would have half a guy sticking out--like the pilots in water, but they'd be head and shoulders with a rifle instead. One of the holes could have a half guy with a light MG. They'd use the MG against planes.

It'd give us enemy lines to attack in a theater NOT characterized by armored warfare.

a question about the Tony.

i always thought that the first K-61 with bombracks were the Ki-61I-Kai . but i also thought that these variants had no retractable tail wheel anymore . the Ki-61I had retractable tailwheels.

as comparison , this looks like a Ki-61I-KAId with 30mm Ho105 in wings

Fantastic - Thanks UbiRass and the rest!!!
Very cool- I see search and rescue of downed pilots in our future. Please oh please give us a flyable PBY type plane for both sides... to save our poor down airman!!! I can only fly CAP for so long, tanks on fumes now!!! ;-)

This is Ki-61-I KAI-ko.
The racks aren't for bombs. They are for the external fuel tanks.
The guns in the wings are MG-151/20.

Is it me, or has the spinning prop been redone? It's not an full circle anymore. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Excellent update, once again. I'm particularly impressed with the detail that has been put into the pilot models. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Here's hoping for some pilot rescue missions. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Flyable, most likely. The updates page also show screenshots of the Tony cockpit.

KI61
----

problem with that plane was it just had no range whatsoever, even worse than the spitfire.
it must have climbed up quickly to meet the B29's, fire a couple of bursts and rush back to base for refuel.

NB:the cockpit is smashing.

shouldnt have the Ki-61I-Kai their 20mm Ho-5 in the fuselage ?

and the Ki-61I only the possibility to have Mg151/20 in the wings ?

so, ok, Ki-61I had also racks for droptanks, thx for the info.

Only the early production ki61's had imported mausers in the wings and these were swapped for mgs before they went into combat.

Because of material shortages the japanese were unable to license produce the guns or their ammo.

Also kawasaki had no previous experience designing wings that could take the recoil of cannons. The wings were too light and when HO-5s were added they were in the fuselage.

I liked the Japanese pilot who sports a lethal Katana on his back. Very handy to bounce the sharks while being retrieved... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Also, the Okha looks terrific. I'm looking forward in flying this thing (if it ever becomes available to be piloted). http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
