I think many like me have been amazed by the cool weapons altair carries with him. But what are the names of the weapons, I'm sure it sound pretty cool "the long sword", but what type of long sword, a katana, a Jian?
So i hope you can help identifie what type of sword does the Hashshashin's use.

The long sharp object Altair keeps on his hip. It was used as a primitive death dealing tool.

Give it an eagle head as the pommel, and I'm pretty sure you've got it.

Noone said anything about his wrist blade...

Cool sword though... Although the blade is a little 2 curved and there is no hand guard... Unless you're talking about his first sword because i forgot what that one looked like...

Well all the swords he uses throughout the game are european sabres. The last one is a cavalry sabre in fact. The other swords are more along the line of a turkish sabre or engilsh styled sabre, not sure though.

These are all similar sabres to those used by Altair throughout the game. So they aren't in fact longswords, but sabres.

The second sword is a longsword not a viking sword. They're pretty similar but viking swords typically have a tapering blade and smaller crossguards, more similar to a gladius in length and appearance.

His longsword is european but not from europe if you get my drift. Because you can see his has the eagle motif on the crossguard and pommel, which matches his dagger and even throwing daggers. So all his stuff is custom made = made in the middle east.

It's not a longsword, if it were, it would look something more along the lines of Bas-tard sword or a hand and a half sword. It's just one handed with a slim straight blade, which classifies as a sabre. And it's defiantlry not a viking sword which is also significantly longer than a gladius. Though a viking sword is tradionally one handed, it had a broad blade made for hacking rather than countering, or swift sword play such as a sabre or rapier. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The sword is called a falchion. Sabers where not in use until the 14th century. Later versions of this sword evolved into the cut and thrust, the cutlass, and the dueling sword.
