Just got back from a vacation. Due to circumstances I went alone this year. Not ideal, but I did get to be selfish in the itinerary.

I went to Washington DC. Actually, I camped about 25 miles down the Potomac in VA. I had two full days, so I spent the first (Jul 3rd) at the Udvar-Hazy museum, and the second day (the fourth) at the Air and Space proper. Tomorrow I have to have surgery to remove my jaw from the floor.

Last year, when I went to Luckenbach, TX, I saw an FW-190 A. Otherwise I've not seen an actual WWII bird before. It's unbelievable the feeling I get when my brain tries to conceive what my eyes report.

"HOLY *******-****, that really is a ******* 109! HOLY MOTHER of ****!"

I have seen the promised land.

Oh it is! How do you stand it? I couldn't hold down a job if I were that close.

I was just down in VA last month, but couldn't budget the time to make it over to Manassas. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
I went about three years ago though.

I know this is the US but if you guys are ever in the UK try IWM Duxford (google it) with the American air museum and the new Airspace museum (British stuff). The thing that struck me was the glass wall that shows the losses incurred by by the Mighty eighth (it really is thought provoking).

The glass wall is extremely moving. If anyone is doing the Flying Legends air show this weeknd, I strongly recommend you get there early and spend a bit of time there. Sadly can't make it this year http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

The 8th Airforce Hall at Duxford is a war memorial, very nice it is too. I went to that Smithsonian place on the Mall in D.C., and the museum in Houston, TX, with that Saturn V in sections outside, both were absolute odes to American inginuity. Wonderful.

the A&S museum is awesome. when I was a kid my family went to DC for a whole week and I insisted that we went to the A&S 3 times during the entire vacation, heheh.

the new extension wasn't open then, man I would have blown a gasket seeing a Ar-234 when I was a kid.

MMMMmmmmm. Hang on lemme wipe the druel off of my keyboard. The euphoric thought of seeing a Bf.109 up close and personal has caused excessive salvination.....

Ok Im good, now that I can form coherent sentences again. I live here in the south not too far from there, I have been to Norfolk VA to see BB.64 so I reckon I can go the extra hop across the bridge tunnel to the other side and see the the sights myself.
