thanks to the various evidence presented in these forums I have come to believe that the superiority of the Spitfire over the 109 was more myth than fact. The 109 has better rate of climb, faster, better low speed stability, can turn tighter than previuosly given credit for, etc, etc.

I took on these claims, with supporting evidence and had adjusted my thinking & flying accordingly when i ran across this...

http://www.spitfireperformance.com/spit9v109g.htm

an eye opener for me.

Now what's the situation here? can I present this as unbiased information and that my only aim is to see the simulation become more accurate to r/l?

Or am i gonna be denounced as a 'red noob' whining that his uberplane doesnt work like his books told him? As such I refer you to this site (note balance of blue/red team missions.)

I am not trying to start a flame, I aint trolling, I just want to present something I believe needs looking at.
I like the 109, think it's a good stable ride excellent for BnZ and I enjoy fighting in it but I believe the Spit has been reigned in too tight.

Spit IXLF speeds are very good in game, if maybe a tad too slow at 30,000FT.
20,000FT and below they are around 10KPH slower than the official test data.. but the tests were done with rads closed, so I guess its acceptable.

i can't comment on the climb, as I haven't tested it.. but I wouldn't be surprised if it was overmodelled, like most planes in game.

tom, its VERY easy to belive teh 109 was the best plane ever! if u only belive or shown the best views, etc about it, or if your only shown the worst, u can think its ****.

was a good plane for sure, but the IX was a excellent plane http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

btw nearly everyone thought the 190 was better than 109..

As long as you have to fight against a MW50 equipped 109, which is the case for most of the dogfight servers, you shouldn't compare it with a version that ran at 1.3 ata: 1300 instead of 1800 PS http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

I wouldn't call it an eye opener.

i didnt flew the Bf109G6 (early) since a long time . but i still doubt that a Spitfire Mk.IXc have much proplems with it... and thats the 1943 match !

not that airquakes with Bf109K4 vs HF.MkIXe.

imagine a Dogfighserver with:
Bf109G6 , Fw190A5 vs Spitfire Mk.IXc , P-47D-10 , Spitfire LF.MkVb (CW) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
like Summer 1943 over France

The Sptifire performance is an excellent site for assesing the performance of various Spitfire marks. In fact it is one of the best sites on the internet in terms of original documents and information.

What it is NOT is a site for assesing the performance of the Spitfires opponents. This site seems to cause a great deal of ire among fans of LuftWaffe planes. I have more than once heard moans to the effect that the site 'displays the best case situation for the Spitfire and the worst case situation for the 109'.

Whether you believe that to be true or not is up to you. I just think that the analysis of the Spitfire vs 109 is probably the weak point in this website.

Hey Tom here's your stats.

Also in game Bf-109 is far superior in solo to FW-190 while within team I would put my money on Butcher Bird.
