Hey everyone,

I am looking into getting an updated monitor, and I have waited almost 5 years to finally break down and get a dream monitor - a 20-22" professional CRT series. I am most considering the Viewsonic P225f / P225fB series. If you own this monitor, can you please share with me your thoughts? What are the pros and cons? Are you happy with your purchase? What other monitors were you considering? Any other comments... Here is a link to the Viewsonic monitor:
http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktopdisplays/crtmonitors/proseries/p225fb/

I really appreciate your feedback on this, as it is quite an investment and I want to make the best choice. Thank you for any advice you may be able to share with me! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

NewEgg is my usual purchase place, and the reviews look good so thanks for pointing that out to me, I appreciate it!

I looked at that one as well as 2 by NEC, the FE2111SB and the FP2141SB. I ended up with the FE2141SB because if supports much higher refresh rates as well as higher resolutions than either the FE2111SB or the Viewsonic. The cost was about the same but viewde side by side, there was no comparison.

I've been using the P225f, that I got from NewEgg, for about a year now. No problems at all. Very happy with it.

I couldn't afford a 21/22" monitor. But I have a 19" NEC Multisync FE991SB and swear by it. (not at it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif) Great picture quality at any resolution and crisp text for the odd "regular" work that must be done so I can fly. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

If I could afford a larger monitor I personally would look at the NEC line. I'm extremely pleased with mine.

i have a P225fb (b for black) i have had no problems with it for about 3 years now. my last monitor was a 21 inch piece of ****, just old. the picture is much better of course. it has a very good refresh rate. i bought it in conjunction with e-dimensional 3d glasses because at 1024x768 the refresh rate is 150 hertz. the 3d glasses halve your refresh rate meaning i can leave v-synch on to eliminate tearing and still get 75 fps for nice smooth play. i did alot of research before i bought it, and found it was the best i could get at around $600. the only one that seemed better was sony's f520 (now out of production) for $1500. maximum pc did a review a few month ago on 21 inch monitors that included the p225f. i think the one they liked better was made by NEC. i believe the p225f came in second. i've recently started throwing away my magazines after i read them, i've regretted it ever since.

OK, thanks again for the replies. It seems like that's a pretty good monitor. I also think I need to look into the NECs, but I really like the incredible refresh rates on the Viewsonic. Well, any other input is always welcomed!

Hey ddsflyer, can you post your refresh rate specs for your NEC FP2141? For example, what can it do at 1024x768, 1280x960, 1600x1200, etc. Thanks if you can help out!

I own a 22" p225fb. I bought it about a year ago for $600. It has been great without any problems.

On a related note. Does anybody know how you are supposed to properly clean the screens of these things.

viewsonic's professional monitors are very horrible and blury. There graphic series are pretty good though.

Hmm, I'm now actually leaning towards the NEC FP2141SB - what do you guys think about this choice vs. the ViewSonic?

I have 3 Graphics Series G220f 21". These 3 replaced the older three 21" Viewsoncic I had. I found they last about 6 years then start to go down hill, not as crisp detail, fading out. I have really been pleased with them.

dds, did you have to tweak your monitor a lot to get it to work right? One of the things that are making me quite nervous about the NEC FP2141SB are comments like these:

What are your thoughts on this???? Thank you for offering me your feedback!

Didn't have to tweak anything other than geometry settings for each different resolution.
