Greetings. I got my game for my birthday on June 9, 2004. But my Compaq would never boot the game.

Then for Christmas 2004, I got a brand new Dell Dimension Desktop 4700 with Flat Screen LCD Monitor. The game works fine, except with one glitch. Whenever I try to put on the Thermal Goggles, the game shuts down and puts me to the desktop. I tried getting the 1.2 patch, I tried diffrent settings on my computer, and I tried to assign diffrent keyboard keys to the action. Nothing works. What can I do?

These are my PC Specs:

Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition version 5.1.2600 with Service Pack 2.0

Memory Capacity: 512 Mega Bits

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 2.80 Giga Herz version x86 Family 15 Model 3 Stepping 4

Local Disk: Total Capacity: 71.70 Giga Bits, Used: 7.82 Giga Bits, Free: 63.88 Giga Bits

Display: True Color (32 Bit), Resolution: 1024X768 (note: My computer does not have the option of going to resolution of 640X480, The lowest setting I have is 800X600)

Video Card: Intel 82915G Express Chipset Family, Driver: ialmnt5.sys

Sound Card: Microsoft Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device, Driver: modemcsa.sys

CD-ROM Drive: Manufacturer: Unknown, Model: HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4481B, Driver: cdrom.sys

Anything else I need to tell?

It MIGHT work with the onboard, but if I'd to say what to upgrade, it would be the video card.
Even a very low-budget card can play SC1, so try getting a card that is supported (should be in discount for 10-30 dollars)

I was afraid this might be the answer, the graphics card. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Thaks guys (or girls, if your a girl). As for shelling out only about $30, that sounds good. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you've never played SC, dont't worry. The gmae is worth the money to get a new video card.

I played it before on my cousin's Game Cube. That is what made me put the game on my birthday list. It defenatly is worth a new graphics card. I intend on using my Christmas mony to purchase Splinter Cell 2: Pandora Tommorrow (though I never played that, my cousin does not have it) as well. I wish Splinter Cell 3: Chaos Theory was out. I intend to get that for my next birthday. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
