Is it the Uk version with the 450 page game guide does anyone know?

I was going to wait for a North American release but I would like to get the plane guide.

Thanks

Someone mentioned this in another thread, I can't remember who tho.

It is most likely that the IL2 fromtpage contains a translation error were UK should read english i.e the 450 page aircraft guide pdf file will only be in English language and not translated into french, german etc.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

That is total speculation and likely wrong.

As in everything distributed by <b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">UBI[/b] since after PF came out, the US is purposely not mentioned. This is NOT by accident but by pure marketing idiocy!......IMHO of course.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I bet you its right though. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Seems unlikly that they'll produce a paper guide and even less unlikley that they'd produce special UK only DVDs.
I'm sorry they haven't mentioned the US release, it seems to be giving some you a bit of a persecution complex.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif Sad but true. That's why we now have around 900-1000 players in the lobby during evening in Europe and only about 300 during evening in North America.

The marketing thing for U.S. releases - could it be something to do with the copyright issues <b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">UBI[/b] and 1C had with various copyright owners in the U.S. that own the rights of aircraft like Vought, Grumman, Boeing - that put a stop to 1C making more versions of aircraft for the game? Some sort of agreement between <b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">UBI[/b] and those companys?

Makes one think doesn't it. If there is any ounce of truth to this then it is up to us to spread the word and not let the game we enjoy fade away in the States IMHO

It's treading on dangerous ground, moderator-wise, to mention it - but it seems the most rational explanation. Remember back from that, when patches or add-ons came out in the States first, and the Europeans had to wait. That option vanished after the said debacle. QED

Oh, and printing costs on a 450-page manual, presumably with illustrations, plus the weight/ shipping costs, would make the ??20 - $40 release cost a total loss marketing wise. My money's on a printable pdf. Start buying ink cartridges now, and paper. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Maybe they just can't reach a marketing agreement with the US. I've written software for
small time weasels that first order of business was carving out their own monopoly territories
to keep competition out. Not to mention their business was more phoney than not and after the
third excuse I got for late pay, I told em bye-bye.
Of course I have no idea who in the US would work to block this product....

Stop thinking "nationalities" and start thinking "language"........

For every "language" a different version must be created......It would not suprise me in that the guide created by an english speaker is only available in english, hence all the gyrations of this thread for nothing yet would be valid on any other language forum.

Remember back from that, when patches or add-ons came out in the States first, and the Europeans had to wait. That option vanished after the said debacle. Honestly, I find it very difficult to believe that the aircraft companies would prohibit anyone from mentioning their aircraft in a game, particularly when the said aircraft are 60+ years old. Most aviation companies will allow their products to be used with the submission of a simple letter requesting to do so. Now maybe I'm wrong on this one but the "aircraft companies won't let me" rationale is just a bit hard to swallow. Who knows.

Yikes, I couldn't imagine having to run this game with those minimums. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Although, some still may have hardware similar, you'd have to do a whole lot of graphics lowering, as well as heavy tweaking, to get smooth gameplay.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Toy and model companies are dealing with it, too. Thanks for setting me straight on this. It's amazing how absolutely petty this whole thing is. What makes it even more strange is the fact that the aircraft in question were paid for with U.S. tax payers dollars. One wonders what actual legitimate claims the companies themselves have on the aircraft designations, etc. since the government assigned them. Go figure.
