Hi it looks like my old thread has been deleted so we'll start again. Unfortunately I'll have to rewrite the back story (not that it was THAT long anyways), since I forgot to save it from the thread and it was erased. Be as it may, each template is done, although I'm starting to get busy again so I can't give you guys a time frame I was looking at making two various campaigns to start. Both are very different but take place in the same conflict (I'll repost the backstory soon), but basically a conflict erupts between the Western Allies and the Soviet Union in late July 1945. Here are the two campaigns:

"Tough nut to crack"

Location: Berlin Map
Start: July 15, 1945

Your a young Soviet commander reassigned to a unit flying the new IL-10 Beast. After seeing brief combat flying the venerable IL-2M3 in the Berlin campaign in late April/May you've become bored. Despite the horrible stories and experiences you've heard from old veterans you were eager to make a difference, but the war ended with you flying only 10 combat missions.

As it turns out you'll get your chance however, after a brief vacation back to the motherland you've been transferred to a new unit flying the IL-10 at Fuerstenwalde. You've got very little experience in this new aircraft, so you better put some hours in quick, since it appears a new conflict is VERY likely. Furthermore, at the outbreak of any hostilities its quite obvious what your assignment will be... take part in the siege of Berlin and crush the pocket of Allied resistance.

"Achilles Heel"

Date: August 31, 1945
Location: Vladvistok Map

Your an ace fighter pilot flying the F4U Vought Corsair, with hundreds of combat missions throughout the Pacific. You've had many close calls, being wounded twice and you've lost more friends than you'd like to count, then again with 25 A-A victories you've definitely dished some out as well.

Unfortunately, with the political climate of the past two months, the imminent end of hostilities just got further away. The Japanese mainland is still a lion's den of resistance against both its Bolshevik and Democratic invaders. With no easy out against the Japanese and the new conflict against the Soviets, MacArthur, with Admiral Halsey and other leading American military minds have taken a bold new strategy. With the majority of Soviet forces focused on the invasion of Western Europe. The quality, calibre, along with the ferocity of the Russian soldiers and their weapons in this region is therefore degraded. On this information a decision has been made, that instead of invading the Japanese mainland right away, the carpet bombing of Japan by B-29s will continue and instead a massive invasion will be launched on an undetermined location in the Vladvistok region instead.

The only complicating factor is the Japanese still occupy the majority of this territory and they obviously will resist ferociously. Be as it may, at least there will be no shortage of bad guys to shoot at, and you might as well get some sleep, your first sortie departs in 4 hours.

Thats what I got so far, I'd like to do more but I can't guarantee anything, if anyone else is interested once I can send you guys my templates. So far I only have three versions of the Berlin template finished. I'm going to try to get a photobucket account as well, then I'll post some WIP pics.

Is the P-47 with Fatboy load out flyable? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

No it is a bit of a let down I know, the big losses for the Pacific theater are definitely the F7F, F8F, and the P-61. Oh well, I'll make due!

A full scale Russian assualt is underway, and although making huge progress initially the Russian infantry and tank regiments are being bogged down by the heavy urban combat and hastily doug American trenches. Here the first assault on the Eastern edge Tempelhof airfield is repelled with Soviet T44s smoldering in the distance.

As the vicious fight rages on at the Eastern end of the field a last flight of Superfortresses evacuates Tempelhof under heavy fire.

After jettisoning their bombs the IL-10s come back around to strafe American defensive positions opening up a hole for Soviet tanks.

The superiority of the "Beast" in the ground attack role is apparent!

In a scene similar to Iwo Jima, the last flight of Superfortresses out of Tempelhof lifts off under heavy fire.

Resistance and AAA fire is vicious, but the speed and durability of the Beast quickly becomes apparent!

Hi.
This sounds like a great idea for a campaign and I thought you might want to have some skins made for the campaigns.
If so: I'd be happy to help; in fact I have a handfull of post-war GAF skins ready.

I would like that a lot thanks Hunin!
Also, if someone could give me more info on what American, British, and Russian Units were operating in Germany from Spring of 1945 into 1946 that would be great!

Hunin, as of right now theres three that I can't find at all. I'll need marked versions of the following skins since I made the Allies blue and no markings, so they'll need stars.

1. C-47, post war skins for the RAF and USAAF, right now all I have is the DDAY invasion striped one.

2. FW-200 (DC-6) four engined transport for the RAF and USAAF

3. YP-80 for USAAF and RAF

Thats what I figure I'm really lacking right now...

Ok.
The C-47 should be no problem; lots of pics around I guess.

I will do the Fw-200 in a similar sheme, if you dont have something specific in mind.

Am I right to assume that the P-80 should go bare metall?

Sorry I've been MIA... I'm still working on this baby in my spare time. And yeah the YP-80 was still bare metal at this time if the offer is still on the table, I'd appreciate it.

I throw up some more WIP pics later!
